Holiday Rental House
Castaway Cottage is an early Victorian fisherman's cottage in the heart of Whitstable. It is fully equipped for self-catering holidays for up to 6 people, is stylishly decorated with work by local artists and features 3 airy and spacious bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (1 en suite). The cottage is situated off Harbour Street in the centre of the conservation area - a three minute stroll from shops, restaurants, beach and harbour and ten minutes walk to the local 'Pay and Play' 18 hole golf course. The cottage was featured in The Independent on Sunday who described it as: 'Much of the pleasure here is in the small touches – the bundle of lavender in the bathroom, the cashmere blankets draped over the back of the sofas, the tea-lights on the sideboard – all of which give Castaway Cottage the feel ...Castaway Cottage is an early Victorian fisherman's cottage in the heart of Whitstable. The cottage was featured in The Independent on Sunday who described it as: 'Much of the pleasure here is in the small touches – the bundle of lavender in the bathroom, the cashmere blankets draped over the back of the sofas, the tea-lights on the sideboard – all of which give Castaway Cottage the feel of a proper home rather than a holiday rental.' The 3 storey cottage has a fully fitted modern kitchen, a woodburning stove and WiFi. The cottage features a stylish mix of designer and locally crafted furniture and the bedrooms are spacious with plenty of storage and top quality bed linen. Decked out with white washed wooden floors and walls, it has everything you need to feel at home including a kitchen fitted with all the mod cons and a Kenwood coffee maker. There are three generous double bedrooms - two on the first floor and a third on the top floor with 2 single beds. The back bedroom features an en-suite shower room making it perfect for families with small children, couples sharing or older relatives and there is also a family bathroom on the ground floor. The cottage is immaculately presented and finished to our own high standards, combined to provide comfort and a real 'home-from-home' experience. As well as enjoying the local beach and outside space, you can also enjoy the sunny decked garden. It has been professionally designed and planted with seaside friendly plants and is complete with a large table and chairs - perfect for al fresco dining, a beach hut style shed housing deckchairs for guests use and features a separate back gate making access for bicycles super easy.More

Lovely cottage, convenient for all local amenities. It was clean, well-equipped and cosy and provided perfect accommodation for our weekend stay. Clare (the owner) communicated really well regarding the booking and was very accessible and helpful.

This house really made us feel like we were on a seaside holiday; the nautical theme was fun without being OTT. Everything was thought of, and the rooms were spotlessly clean. The secluded garden was a lovely place to sit and enjoy a drink in...More

This was an excellent weekend away with friends in this charming property. The owners clearly care about making it comfortable and welcoming. We stayed in January so were very grateful for the log burner.

About the neighbourhood
Whitstable is well known for its variety of pubs and restaurants, catering for all tastes and budgets. Locally caught seafood is popular - native oysters, in particular, being the locally harvested delicacy. There is an Oyster Festival celebrated in the town in late July which brings together food, art and culture for locals and visitors to enjoy. The harbour plays host to small bands throughout the summer months and has a thriving End of the Pier Comedy Club. There's plenty to keep you busy in Whitstable: visit the town's fabulous independent coffee shops, bars and restaurants, enjoy the local boutique stores and numerous art galleries and buy fresh fish at the harbour, straight off the fishermans boats.
Getting around
Everything you need in Whitstable is within walking distance so you can easily be here without a car. There are regular buses into Canterbury or Herne Bay from the centre of town and the train station is a 10 minute walk away with regular trains further afield to Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate or 1 hour 40 mins into London.
