About the neighbourhood
Whitstable is a fascinating, historic fishing port famous for its Oysters from the Roman Times. The small harbour is alive with fishing boats off loading fresh fish to the markets and restaurants in the town. The birth place of deep sea diving with displays in the museum detailing the history and the men who developed this dangerous occupation. Also famous for the Crab and Winkle Line, the first steam train before Stevenson's Rocket which took fish and other commodities from the Harbour to Canterbury. The Irish Village is a unique and special place in Whitstable and a wonderful place to say and enjoy the local area or as a base for wider travelling
How to get there
From Joy Lane, the Irish Village is on the right when driving from the the town opposite Tollgate Close toward the beach.
