Welcome to 2 Percy Cottages, our Northumberland home that we bought from the Duke of Northumberland in 2013. If you want a fantastic 3 bedroom, Georgian, self-catering holiday let and perfect home away from home for couples, families and dog lovers this is it.

It's only a one minute walk from Alnwick Castle & Gardens, Alnwick town centre and Hulne Park's 3,000 acres of woodland. The fabulous beaches of Bamburgh and Low Newton, boat trips to the Farne Islands, Lindisfarne and the totally unique Chillingham Castle are only short drives away.

Alnwick is a lovely town and the cottage is very central. We stayed in it over Christmas, there was plenty of space for all of us and 2 dogs, kitchen very well equipped for cooking Christmas dinner. Cosy and homely. Stunning beaches and coastline within...More

Great location for walking into Alnick for shopping ,pub visits etc.House very well presented and comfortable,Alnick castle and gardens worth a visit as is Craster.

About the neighbourhood
Alnwick is a beautiful, historic town and was recently named the best town to live in Britain (2013). Alnwick has become one of the country's top tourist destinations with its spectacular gardens, one of the largest treehouses in Europe and Alnwick Castle which was featured in the Harry Potter films. Alnwick is roughly half way between Berwick and Newcastle, making a great base from which to explore the coastline and imposing castles of Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh and the Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island. Just a short drive away is Seahouses where visitors can take boats to the Farne Islands a favourite site for bird watchers. My favourite new recommendation is Chillingham Castle - privately owned, totally unique & haunted!
Getting around
If you have a car you will find the area very easy to get around. If you don't have a car the good news is everything you need during your stay is within walking distance - groceries, pubs, castle, gardens, walks, playhouse, shops... The nearest train station is Alnmouth which is only 6 miles away and taxis are available to take you to and from. This is a mainline that runs from London along the coast up to Edinburgh which is only an hour and a bit away - close enough for a day trip.

Alnwick is located just off the A1 - a major road that cuts through England from North to South. Full address and directions will be forwarded once you've booked. There is plenty of free on street parking across the road from the cottage. Many visitors come with two cars and have never had parking issues even in peak season.
