Had a great week here in a cottage that was home from home. It could have been more in keeping with other cottages we have stayed in in the area which have supplied a welcome basket, milk in fridge, firewood for first fire etc, but still a nice place to stay.

Even the church bells ring quietly !! Thoroughly...

About the neighbourhood
Alnmouth first appears in historic records in Saxon times as the place where St. Cuthbert was chosen as the Bishop of Lindisfarne in 684 AD. The 17th and 18th centuries saw the hey day of Alnmouth's prosperity as an exporting harbour.

Today, Alnmouth remains the unspoilt seaside village that captured the hearts of the Victorians. The ancient buildings have seen many transformations and today the village boasts four thriving pubs, serving food to suit every taste and a variety of real ales.... There is even an annual Beer Festival at the award winning Red Lion pub. In addition, there are three other restaurants, one serving locally caught seafood, and another serving Italian cuisine, with takeaway pizzas very popular after a day on the beach.
