House Rental
Wagtail Cottage is a cosy farm holiday cottage surrounded by fields. It is the perfect base for exploring Northumberland or maybe all you want to do is just simply relax by the fire and get away from it all. Wagtail is modern, cosy and comfortable. There is private parking for three cars and a large garage if you wish to store bikes or a trailer.
The cottage has a good sized sitting room with a gorgeous log burner. The sofas are large and super comfortable. The dining area easily sits six guests.
The kitchen looks out to the garden and has a large fridge/freezer, useful for larger parties. All our crockery and cutlery is of a high standard.

Home from home, tranquil retreat close to
Located in the Northumberland countryside close to Berwick and stunning beaches with golden sands. Cottage was well presented and stocked with everything needed. Laura was very welcoming and close at hand if we had any concerns. We used the cottage as a base for my dads 80th birthday weekend and had family popping in throughout the weekend. I would highly recommend this cottage or any of the others that Laura rents out.

Fantastic base to explore Northumbria
We had a great week at Wagtail Cottage. The location is excellent - only being a ten minutes drive from Berrick town centre. Lots of fantastic walks and stunning countryside to see. We particualarly enjoyed the nearby honey farm and Paxton House.
The house itself was spacious and very comfortable with fantastic facilities. The garden was great and completely closed in which stopped the kids from adventuring onto the farm on their own! We also made use of the kids play area on site which was a great way to tire them out before bed!
I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fantastic base to explore Northumbria. We would love to go back again!

About the neighbourhood
Thornton Farm is set in peaceful North Northumberland countryside. We have 51 species of birdlife and guests are able to walk around the farm enjoying the fresh air and open views.
North Northumberland is often described as Devon 50 years ago! The roads are quiet, you can relax without the crowds and catch the view to the Cheviots stretching to Berwickshire.
Norham Village is 10 minutes by car and offers local shops, such as the most amazing bakers and a good pub. Berwick has a selection of good restaurants, a swimming pool, play parks and interesting shops.
Skylark Cottage is a short drive from the Coastal Path walk. The cottage makes a great base for walkers exploring the Scottish Borders, the Cheviots and Lindisfarne.
Getting around
Whereas a car is highly recommended around North Northumberland, we realise this is not always the desirable option.
Berwick Railway Station is 6 miles from Thornton. A taxi is easily found here and the price is usually £10 to Thornton.
Perrymans and Glen Valley Tours run a twice daily bus service to Berwick and Wooler from our local bus stop, Shoresdean.
Please note that for electric car charging there will be an additional £5 per night fee.

Berwick-upon-Tweed train station is 5 miles and Edinburgh Airport 55 miles.
