Old Town Farm sits on the edge of the Northumberland National Park and within the newly designated International Dark Skies Park.
The Hemmel has two double bedrooms, both tastefully decorated. One with king-size bed, the other has a zip and link king-size bed which can be separated to create twin beds. both have top quality mattresses. The house is on one level and has a large luxurious bathroom with walk-in shower. There are open beamed ceilings throughout and a modern log burning stove. The living area is open plan and there is also a south-facing entrance hall/sun-room with seating that overlooks the grassed courtyard.
A large patio takes advantage of fabulous views to the north and west across the Rede Valley. This area gets the morning and evening sun, perfect for morning coffee and summer barbecues. The private garden to the rear of the garden is large for dogs and kids to run around!
Otterburn village is only 1 mile away and has an excellent village shop. Otterburn Woolen Mill and Country Store has a coffee shop brimming with tasty treats. Locally there are pubs and hotels serving good quality meals and Bellingham village (8 miles) has a wider selection of shops, a bank and petrol station.More
The Hemmel is a beautifully rennovated barn just outside Otterburn.
We loved our stay . Busy days walking, cycling and going to the beach and perfect evenings in front of the log burner. Kate is an excellent host and we hope to return.
Stayed in the Hemmel for a few nights with my wife and our two dogs while in the area on business, and it really is every bit as good as all of the reviews say.

Otterburn village has a well stocked shop for food provisions. Otterburn Mill stocks outdoor clothing, shoes and equipment and has a good coffee shop. Newly refurbished William de Percy is a lively wedding venue with bar and restaurant open to the public.
Nearby Bellingham, 8 miles, has a larger range of food stores and craft shops, pubs and tea rooms. Lovely walk up Hareshaw Linn to the waterfall.
Kielder Water and Forest Park are only a 20min drive and has excellent and challenging cycle and walking routes and family activities including birds of prey centre.
