Lovely Stay
We had such a good time staying here.
The cottage is nicely decorated, the beds are comfortable and the location is excellent.
Our dog loved it. There are lots of dog-friendly beaches nearby and we found some walks with amazing views.
Within just a few minutes walk is a Co-Op, pharmacy, the seafront, pubs, chip shops and crazy golf.
We'll definitely come back some time.
Thank you very much for a lovely holiday x

Great place to stay
Well as this was our 2nd visit, there’s no surprise to say that there will no doubt be a 3rd. The cottage has everything you need and has a lovely homely feeling about it. A fantastic guide to all things available to you is provided so if you’re not familiar with the area it’s well worth a read. Absolutely plenty of food outlets whether for taking away or sitting in. As we had a dog, it was mostly takeaway but the Links Hotel (which is only a few short steps away) is dog friendly for sitting in and their food is tremendous. So many great walks and beaches you will certainly deserve a well earned drink at the end of the day.

Old Salt Cottage - Highly Recommended
A very comfortable, homely cottage located just minutes away from beaches, harbour and town centre. A great base to explore the wider locality with great beaches, castles, coastal towns and boat trips to the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne (Holy Island). The cottage, beaches
cafes, bars and restaurants are super dog friendly. All highly recommended - we would certainly book again.

Every thing you need for a break in clean and pleasant surroundings
We spent a very pleasant Xmas break at Old Salt Cottage Seahouses. It had everything we needed plus a lot of extras we didn’t expect , so on our next visit we will travel lighter. The shops and restaurants and take always are only yards away and Bamburgh beach is a 10 minute walk away . It’s was cosy warm and clean, the information pack was excellent, and the places of interest easy to get to by car.
We will definitely rebook old salt in the near future.

Perfectly appointed and situated cottage!
Myself, my husband and our 1 year old son arrived in mid October to this beautifully appointed, stylishly decorated and incredibly well maintained cottage in the heart of Seahouses.
Having not really planned our trip we found the information folder compiled by the owners extremely helpful when planning where to explore and eat each day.
(and the very kind complimentary goodies we discovered on arrival were much appreciated also – such a thoughtful touch!)
The WiFi was great and it worked perfectly, the beds were super comfy, we cracked into the DVDs one night too! Overall the cottage we thought the house was beautiful and has everything you could possibly need.
During our 3 night stay we enjoyed exploring all the stunning local beaches (Beadnell was a favourite) as well as a day trip to Holy Isle, Lindisfarne. We did a mixture of eating out and in, visiting few lovely coffee shops and lunch venues, whilst also making use of the lovely local eateries which also do take-away. When cooking we enjoyed shopping for a few bits at the awesome local farm shop, family run bakery, and fishmongers just round the corner/up from the harbour.
In summary, Seahouses really is the perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast line, it’s surrounded by miles and miles of beautiful beaches. The location of Old Salt Cottage is excellent, within a few minutes walk of the beautiful harbour, and all the amenities you could possible need. We can't recommend a stay at this delightful cottage highly enough.

Perfect Cottage and Location
We stayed here for four nights at the beginning of August (it really wasn’t long enough) the cottage is beautiful and has everything you could possible need.
We stayed with my teenage daughters so WiFi is essential and it worked perfectly.
The location is excellent, within a few minutes walk of all the amenities you could possible need, pubs and restaurants, takeaways, co-op and a family run bakery that serve beautifully fresh and tasty bread and rolls.
The harbour is a few minutes walk away and we had great fun crabbing when the tide went out.
The goodies on arrival were much appreciated!
Seahouses is the perfect location for exploring the Northumberland coast line, it’s surrounded by miles and miles of beautiful beaches.
The information folder within the cottage was great and we enjoyed a few of the gorgeous walks recommend within it, our Spaniel particularly enjoyed them!
Most of the pubs are dog friendly in the beer gardens, it’s a shame that more don’t allow dogs inside for the chiller evenings. The Bamburgh Inn within Seahouses is recommended for a visit with or without dogs. The food is excellent and they have a dog friendly area within the pub.
A special thank you to the owner Claire who went out of her way on Friday evening to make phone calls to locate something precious that had been left behind and then arranged for it to be posted.
Overall I would defiantly recommend a stay at this beautiful cottage.

Fantastic weekend break
We spent a couple of nights at Old Salt Cottage with our 5-year-old daughter and couldn’t have been happier with the accommodation.
The cottage is surprisingly spacious and beautifully decorated, with lovely attention to detail and some fantastic artwork. It’s in a great location, a minute from the main street and a short walk to the harbour. The owners have thought of everything and the bottle of wine, milk, shortbread and sticks of rock on arrival were a lovely touch. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, and a comprehensive instruction folder is provided detailing everything you need to know about the cottage.
As for Seahouses itself, the town is a fantastic place to stay with a great selection of shops, an abundance of pubs and restaurants, a picturesque harbour with regular boat trips and, of course, a fantastic beach. Everywhere we went was very child friendly and the town is also noticeably very accommodating of dogs, with a number of dog-friendly establishments. The cottage has a box full of information leaflets detailing things to see and do in the local area.
We ate in Insieme (Italian restaurant very close to the Cottage) and Neptune (fish restaurant) and would recommend both. We also picked up takeaway lunches from Sun, Sea and Sandwiches on Main Street, which were excellent quality.
We would return to Old Salt Cottage in a heartbeat and aim to do so in the near future!

Seahouses is a small village on the picturesque Northumberland coast. It has a lively harbour which acts as the gateway to the Farne Islands, with regular boat trips taking bird watchers and nature lovers to this haven for puffins, seals and other wildlife. Beach walks abound in the Seahouses area, with golden sands stretching north to Bamburgh and south to Beadnell and beyond.
Seahouses itself provides excellent facilities, with a selection of restaurants and traditional pubs to keep you fed and watered, and shops where you can buy whatever you need – whether it’s a kite and a picnic for the beach, gifts and sweets to take home, or fire logs and wine for a cosy evening in the cottage.
Getting around
A local bus route connects the coastal villages to the north and south of Seahouses, although we would recommend bringing a car if you wish to fully explore the beautiful coastline of Northumberland.
