About the neighbourhood
Wooler has a well stocked co-op supermarket, there are a variety of small independent businesses including butchers, bakers, delicatessen, newsagent, post office, pharmacy hairdresser and beauty salon. You will also find a variety of antique shops, gift shop, and cafes. There are several takeaways, an Italian restaurant, wine bar and four pubs.
Getting around
Although there are countless walks, cycle routes and local amenities from the front door of the cottage a car is recommended to venture further afield and appreciate the local area.
There is a bus station behind the property with regular services to Newcastle, Berwick, Alnwick and the smaller surrounding villages.
The nearest train station is located at Berwick Upon Tweed which can be reached in car iin15-20 minutes. The journey along the coastline is breathtaking with regular services running between Edinburgh and York.
In my view the best way to see the immediate area is to get out in foot, or bike if you are up for the challenge of the hills.
