Much Wenlock, Shropshire, England
Lovely old barn on the historic Wenlock Edge one mile from the medieval market town of Much Wenlock. Approached via a National Trust mile long (and sometimes bumpy) track the farm is situated overlooking the Ape Dale with magnificent views towards the South Shropshire hills to the west and the Wrekin to the east. Miles of walking along the Jack Mytton Way or simply enjoy the views on a stroll through the woods and fields. The county town of Shrewsbury is 10 miles to the north with Ironbridge and Blists Hill 5 miles SW and Bridgnorth 10 miles South. The Granary has two ground floor bedrooms, one twin, one single with adult size bunks and one upper floor double bedroom approached via a steep open staircase (not suitable for the infirm). The Granary sleeps 6 comfortably but if required there is a double sofa bed in the living room. Ther... Read more

The location is amazing. A mile down a road to the barn itself. Its behind Wenlock Edge so perfect for walking (if you like hiking). Maps and books in the cottage. Loads of games to play with the children and books if it rains too...More

A very enjoyable place to stay, the facilities were first class, the hosts most pleasant, and the location beautiful. A very child-friendly and great holiday

We had a lovely stay at The Granary. The hosts were welcoming and helpful, the setting was peaceful and the animals provided entertainment, particularly for the kids. Pretty walks straight out of the door and more further away.

About the neighbourhood
Wenlock Edge, a prehistoric tropical reef is one of the UK's most import geological features and well worth exploring. Nearby Ironbridge provides a fascinating insight into the early industrial age with the original ironbridge built by Thomas Telford. A specially built replica of a Victorian town at Blists Hill makes a great day out as does Acton Scott, the famous Victorian working farm recently serialised on TV. Many National Trust properties are within easy reach. The Medieval county town of Shrewsbury is 10 miles to the north and Bridgnorth 10 miles to the south.
