Cabin Holiday Rental
It's not where you go, it's where you stay. The Cabin on the Hill features cottage style furnishings with a rustic twist. The flooring is a sustainable art paper floor featuring inlaid fall leaves from the property. Originally built by and home to a young Amish couple that moved to Minnesota with their growing family; we had the cabin moved to our farm on the foot of 'the big hill' back in 2005 when we updated it to have electricity, appliances and running spring water. We have an on-demand hot water system, so feel free to fill the footed slipper tub and relax in the hot spring water or shower off after a day of hiking and then kick back in the oversized chair, the round cuddle couch, or the recliner in front of one of the electric fireplaces. Enjoy the remarkable sunsets from the front porch which overlooks Laurel Run Canyon from a picture-perfect vantage point on the hill. Relax in front of the gas fire pit or slip into the hot tub for a relaxing soak. Enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience in the Hocking Hills offering seasonal farm items such as free-range eggs, duck eggs, berries, pumpkins and more which you can prepare in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoy right in your cabin or take with you to enjoy at home. Want to explore the Hocking Hills State Parks? We are a short drive to many of the parks. Want to go horseback riding? The Spotted Horse Ranch is less than a mile from our farm. Or go canoeing or rafting in nearby Logan or rock climbing at the new High Rock Adventures in Rockbridge just off Route 33. Need to grab some groceries, gas or visit a local eatery? We are just 3 miles from Laurelville, featuring the world famous Laurelville cider or stop by The Ridge Inn for Jo's famous donuts! So, there are conveniences and attractions nearby, but they are completely out of site as you go into seclusion at the cabin! Other on-site activities such as walking the trails on the hill overlooking the canyon, barns and pond. Drop a line to catch a fish - we offer catch-and-release bluegill and bass and the occasional turtle from the dock on our spring-fed pond using our simple homemade cane poles. Bait is often available at the South Perry carryout, or use a piece of hot dog to catch a bluegill! Arrange with us to pick some flowers from our flower gardens or pick blackberries, red raspberries or blueberries when they are in season or picnic in the garden shelter. Bring your hiking boots and enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of the big hill or even spread out a blanket and picnic and enjoy the one of a kind view. Nighttime viewing of the Milky Way is easy from here because of the lack of light pollution and our cleared hilltop. Bring your telescope to setup some night time viewing! Enjoy the overlooking views from the 3/4 wrap around porch. Grill something delicious to eat on the custom charcoal park-style grill pit. The MAIN floor bedroom has a queen sized Serta Perfect Sleeper with Eurotop. The LOFT bedroom has a queen mattress with an foam topper and additional feather bed topper. The walk-out/daylight basement has a brand new queen size pull-out sofa bed with separate foam topper. Clean bedding and pillows are available for each bed. A brand new round hot tub has been installed for your enjoyment on the bottom patio. PLEASE NOTE: the cabin is not suited to handicapped folks or small children due to its location and steep staircases, loft ladder and high railings. Wireless internet access, albeit sometimes slow, is available free of charge, as is over the air TV channels depending upon weather conditions on the upstairs Smart TV. The first floor has a smaller Smart TV that is equipped with wireless, a DVD/Blu Ray player and HDMI inputs in case you want to bring along your favorite movie. A selection of over 100 movies, board games, cards and puzzles are also available for your entertainment. Sorry, no pets please. Close to many area parks, including: Old Man’s Cave – 13.6 miles Ash Cave - St. Rt. 56 Cedar Falls – 15 miles Conkles Hollow – 10.2 miles Cantwell Cliffs – 10 miles Rock House – 5.1 miles Clear Creek Metro Park 17.6 miles Rock Bridge – 14.4 miles Lake Logan – 14.6 miles Tar Hollow – 14.5 miles Hocking State Forest – 9.5 miles More

About the neighbourhood
The cabin overlooks the Laurel Run canyon, beautiful countryside with hills in the distance. Amazing sunsets from the front porch - one of a kind location where the spring equinox is the 1st day the sun comes around the hill to the west to start displaying beautiful sunsets all summer long until the fall equinox when it again sets earlier in the day behind the hill to the west. Short drive to most of the Hocking Hills parks and other attractions.
Getting around
Vehicle is necessary to commute throughout the Hocking Hills countryside.
