Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Shhhhh don’t tell anyone!
My wife and I have taken our parents away each year for the last 16+ years and I found this place online and booked it on the spot. I was concerned that it might be too quiet and small for parents (all in there 70s) however I do not think we could have chosen a more beautiful and better place they loved it the peace and quiet. The owners Jo and Kris could not do enough for you always there more as friends passing by literally on there away to the car park and willing to stop for a chat and give you any advise and answer questions and eggs from their chickens. On top of the crinkles we also have 2 dogs Patch and Diesel who loved the beach and walks to the extent of not wanting to leave. My wife and the dogs where here for 2 weeks crinkles for a week in the middle Pond Meadow has everything that you could require and it’s quality stuff I really could not sing this places praise too much. Been honest it is a squeeze with 5 adults but manageable the stairs to 1st floor are steep but nothing our 70 year old parents could not manage so not a problem. Will I return here defiantly it’s heaven on earth next time definitely need to go fishing off one of there kayaks.

Perfect, peaceful, lovely accommodation.
Pond Meadow Cottage in Portholland, Cornwall. The cottage is delightful, everything you need. The stairs to the kitchen/diner/lounge are steep. There's a balcony for two where you can sit and look at the sea/beach or the pond, ducks, chickens, pheasants, hills & clifftops. Hosts Chris & Jo are friendly, helpful but not intrusive. The beach is awesome, sandy and safe, just a 30 second walk away. We went out everyday, driving to St Mawes, Mevagissey, Polperro, Charlestown, Portscatho etc. The Polgooth Inn and Hidden Hut were our absolute favourites for eating. The joy at the end of the day was returning to beautiful Portholland, our home for a week. Nearest food shops are a few miles away, but that wasn't a big deal. We loved this holiday and left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated and very happy. Thankyou, Chris, Jo, Pond Meadow Cottage, Portholland.

Beautiful cottage right to the sea
We and our dogs had a fabulous relaxing stay at this beautiful place. The cottage is perfectly equipped and Jo and Kris are fantastic hosts. Pond Meadows is just a few steps from a lovely, (all year) dog-friendly (and at low tide quite big sandy) beach. The beach is an ideal starting point for walks to Porthluney Cove (less than 1 mile) or Portloe (2.0 miles). Pond Meadows is the perfect base for exploring this area of Cornwall.

A hidden gem
Our family of four humans and five dogs have just arrived home from a lovely stay at Pond Meadow. The cottage is absolutely beautiful and the kitchen is so well laid out and equipped. The main bedroom is gorgeous, soft bedding, gigantic bed and blissful to sleep with the window open listening to the waves. From our first contact with Jo to the email she just sent us saying we hoped we'd enjoyed our stay was just lovely, she knew lots of places to go and was really approachable. As a side note we found Polgooth Inn to be absolutely outstanding for food but you need to book, The Pier House in Charlestown is also excellent. We would recommend to avoid St Ives if you have dogs as it was really unwelcoming and dogs banned on all but one tiny beach. Portscatho is my favourite place and home of the hidden hut - you have to visit here between 12-3 when they serve amazing food!

Fantabulous
We had a really great stay at Pond Meadow. Port holland was charming! The cottage was very homely, we had everything we needed. Joanna was super helpful even from her own holiday! Only thing I would suggest is another chair in the lounge, we have two adult kids and a 10 yr old and someone always had the floor 😆But the only thing we could fault! We would deffo recommend finding The Vault beach and Carne beach, both were practically deserted and this was in high season, they were super photogenic views we couldn't resist!

Perfect Accommodation and Location.
Can't recommend this holiday home from home enough. Owners so helpful, accommodation spotless with a thoughtful welcome pack awaiting our arrival. Never stayed anywhere before where I can honestly say everything has been thought of to make our stay 100% perfect. Only one problem, we have to go home - easily resolved though. We've booked again for next year. The location is absolutely amazing. A huge thank you for a wonderful much needed break.

What a lucky find!
Adding a dog in to the equation made our normal May Cornish break unworkable, but I'm so glad it did. Pond Meadow Cottage is gorgeous - really well equipped and Jo and Kris have really catered for every need. Especially comfy beds and decent kitchen essentials which is something often overlooked in holiday cottages, and nice touches on arrival. Now add in the location...WOW just a few steps from a lovely local beach, with enough rock pooling, sand and waves to keep the girls and dog (so us too) very happy. Feel really relaxed and lucky to have shared a piece of the Portholland lifestyle.

A perfect place in a perfect spot!
We (myself and my two boys, 5 and 1, and Grandma) stayed at Pond Meadow for a week and couldn't have wished for better hosts and a cosier cottage in the depths of Winter - it was cosy and warm but had enough space for us all to be comfortable. We had everything we needed to enjoy our time together and our hosts even put an extra stair gate up for us. The little garden was secure and we could sit on the picnic bench and look out to the pond with ducks and chickens. We were incredibly happy to be a minutes walk from the sea and the beautiful beach and also enjoyed the security of our hosts being next door. We will be back!

Fabulous Dog Friendly Accommodation
We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon to find the property all ready and waiting, with welcoming personal touches on our arrival, such as emergency supplies of tea, coffee, ilk and sugar. You always wonder about places you book online and, as we were traveling with family from abroad, we hoped it would be good but it surpassed all expectation. It was truly a home away from home, in a quiet, beautiful setting, with all the facilities within the cottage you could want. On a section of southern Cornish heritage coast, it was ideally situated for heading west to Land's End, east to Bodmin and Dartmoor and North to places such as St Ives, Tintagel and Boscastle. That said, with the facilities at the cottage, you don't need to travel for anything other than supplies. A must for the perfect peaceful getaway and plus points for dog friendly, with a sectioned off front garden. We said we'd do back and sincerely hope to next year.

Map
About the neighbourhood
Portholland is made up of 2 small hamlets. East and West Portholland, the little village is home to a total of about 40 permanent residents. Located on 2 coves, Portholland and all the properties therein is owned by the Caerhayes Castle estate the past home of the Trevanion family and sold to the Williams in 1860. The Williams have done their best to keep the area a working farm centred community that was away from the modern life and its haste! Caerhayes Castle can be found a mere 5 minute drive away in a sheltered valley that overlooks Porthluney Cove. East and West Portholland have recently been declared a National Heritage Asset. The areas around Portholland are virtually unchanged for well over 100 years. This hamlet of Portholland where time seems to have stood still is a rarity in this day and age. At high tide Portholland has 2 separate coves but when the tide is low these coves are joined together by golden sand. Ideal for families Portholland is equidistant between St Austell and Truro and is a great base for exploring deeper into the intriguing Roseland Peninsula with a great choice of pubs and restaurants within a short drive. It is also particularly well placed as it receives the maximum amount of sunshine most of the year thus creating a balmy type climate that lasts until Autumn.
