Perfect property and lovely setting
The Moorings is a spacious well equipped and well maintained property. It is perfectly located for exploring Cornwall. The town itself is quirky with all necessary amenities and an interesting array of independent shops. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Moorings. It was very comfortable and I would certainly return. The host, Viv Rogan, is very accommodating and committed to providing a great experience.

Perfect family holiday house
The house and surrounding area met all our expectations. The accommodation was clean, well maintained, well equipped and very comfortable. The location is ideal from which to explore the local area and further afield. We are looking forward to a return visit soon.

Pleased the house and area met all your expectations and you were able to complete your holiday. All holiday bookings from your departure and for next few months have now had to be cancelled. Hopefully when things open up again you will be able to revisit the Moorings and all that Cornwall has to offer. Vivienne

Lovely cottage in great location for exploring Cornwall
Super cottage situated alongside the river where lovely walks and even Kingfishers can be enjoyed. Well presented, bright, welcoming, extremely well equipped with everything we needed, really comfortable beds with quality linen, excellent bathroom facilities with abundant hot water, lovely sitting rooms , very good kitchen and the welcome pack was a bonus. What more could we want! The booking process was easy and efficient and communication with Vivienne ,the owner was first class before, during and after the holiday. Five stars is well deserved and we highly recommend it.

Delighted you felt you had all you wanted at The Moorings and that you enjoyed walks along the river. Several people have mentioned the Kingfishers but sadly I have never spotted one. Thank you so much for your very positive comments and for the five stars. Vivienne

An ideal week.
We had a great week arriving just after the end of the Covid 19 lockdown. Parking was easy and the accommodation is modern, stylish, comfortable and well equipped. Lostwithiel is a lovely little town - do not miss the chance for a Cornish Pasty from the bakers or the new Indian Restaurant. On a warm evening you can barbecue at the front of the property overlooking the river. From this base you can easily explore Fowey, Polkerris, Polruan, Polperro, Looe and Lerryn. In forty minutes you can be on the north coast for surfing at Watergate Bay or Newquay or shopping at Padstow. Nearby are golf and football golf, plenty of cliff walks and the Eden Project.

Just perfect for a family holiday
Spotless, very well-equipped, high quality linen & towels (yes!) beautiful views, comfy beds, brilliant jump-off for north & south coast beaches, beautiful building, 2 car parking spaces, 2 mins walk from the ancient bridge and riverside 'beach'. We loved it even more on our second visit. We wish we could go every year but the rental has a strict no pets rule and we've just got a puppy - this would make it ideal for people with allergies. Thank you Vivienne. Many happy memories have been created in your beautiful house. Mrs Sewell

Excellent self catering property in a lovely Cornish town
We spent a lovely 2 weeks at The Moorings in August. The property is really well furnished, spotlessly clean and very well equipped throughout. Laid out over 4 floors, with two lounge areas, 2 en-suites, a main bathroom and 2 additional toilets (there is a toilet on every floor!) it worked brilliantly for us as a family with older children who like a bit of space to themselves. The beds were super comfy and the dressing room off the main bedroom was a real bonus. It is in a beautiful setting on the banks of the river Fowey. Lostwithiel itself is a lovely town with an excellent local butchers and pie shop and several good pubs and restaurants. We were lucky enough to be staying while the Sing Along the River was taking place, which was a really enjoyable community event (held opposite the property on the other side of the river). The property is close to the train station, so we enjoyed a few days out by train which was nice to be able to leave the car behind and let someone else do the driving. Vivienne, who owns the property, was extremely helpful and informative. We had a lovely welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived including delicious home-made scones and even a special gift for our boys. Loved our stay, The Moorings really felt like home. One of the best self-catering properties we have stayed in.

Thank you for your lovely comments particularly the bit “one of the best”. Am so pleased that you enjoyed your time at the The Moorings and in Lostwithiel. Delighted that you made use of the easy access to the station, when I am down I enjoy letting “the train take the strain”. Thank you also for sharing your thoughts on the house and the town. Vivienne

Lovely well equipped house in a perfect setting
This house is in a lovely setting alongside the river Fowey. It is very clean, very well equipped and the owner is extremely helpful. This was our 2nd stay and we will definitely return. Lostwithiel is a small town with everything you need within a few mins walk from the house, a coop, bakery, pubs, restaurants. gift shops, pharmacy, fish and chip shop etc. There are plenty of things to see and do in this area of Cornwall, Lanhydrock house (NT) a few mins drive away is well worth a visit and guided kayaking tours operate from Golant also a few mins drive to name just a couple. Lostwithiel hosts various events, the day we arrived a gin festival was in full swing with live music just across the river from the house, very entertaining. We had lovely weather and had a couple of bbq's on the patio. A perfect holiday.

Thank you for your comments and information above, I didnt know you could Kayak from Golant so will add that to my visitor information and try out. As you mentioned Lostwithiel is very active and at present there is a choir “singing along the river”. Delighted the house still meets your expectations and hope you make a third visit.

Fantastic house, great location and comfy beds!
Vivienne’s house is home from home. Everything has been thought of, well equipped kitchen and lovely towels and bed linen. The three bedrooms are all spacious and have plenty of storage for clothes. With 2 en-suite shower rooms, a main bathroom and 2 additional toilets, never any fighting over who uses the bathroom next!! Having two lounge areas is useful especially for teenagers or grandparents to use to maintain a little independence. The outside area is lovely and relaxing overlooking the river a great place to enjoy food or just watch the world go by. The river is used by many children to paddle and people launch boats which is fun to watch. Lostwithiel itself is a small village with everything you need just a stones throw from the moorings. A butchers, convenience store, coffee shops, 4 pubs, many other shops and even a fish and chip shop you need never leave. The location of the house is next to the train station so a car isn’t necessary unless you are planning to explore the rest of Cornwall. 3 miles to main a30 and 30 mins to Newquay airport makes it an ideal location. There are many woodland and river walks in the area, 2 play areas and a skate park and Restormal Castle is a short walk from the house. Thank you for letting us stay in your home and we will certainly be back

Ideally located place to explore Cornwall.
We have just returned from spending a week in Lostwithiel in Vivienne’s accommodation. We were delighted with the property and would describe it as a home from home. It is well furnished to a high standard and there is great attention to detail which made our experience a comfortable one. We have lived in Lostwithiel previously and know the area and it is well located for you to explore Cornwall. The property is situated near to the train station and although the trains do run, they are not at all noisy and a pleasure to see when looking out of the kitchen window. The house provides a lovely view of the river and the medieval bridge. It is a quiet setting and the people of Lostwithiel appear very friendly and we have enjoyed visiting the shops, pubs and having meals with our adult children who joined us. We would certainly want to return in the future and would recommend this venue to others. The Hawkins family April 2017
