Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Great facility
We arrived Saturday and found so many little 'extras' to make our stay comfortable. Ground coffee And cafetier with milk for example. Comfy bed very clean well recommended with pool etc all thrown in. A very nice place to stay and well located

A great base for exploring Bude
We have just returned home after a delightful four night stay at Hilton Farm Cottages. We stayed in the Nook, which is designed for two people and although compact, we found it to be clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay. The setting is wonderful; and having a grassed area where we could sit outside was ideal for us, especially as our greyhound Shadow likes to stretch out in comfort and doesn’t enjoy lying on hard surfaces! The amenities are good, and I enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tub, picking quiet times late afternoon, when the sunshine was glorious too. We were very lucky to have good weather. Hilton Farm is well placed to visit the coast, Bude itself and further afield to places such as Hartland Quay. If you visit, do make use of the lovely Community shop in Marhamchurch which is well stocked and run by friendly volunteer staff. The owners at Hilton Farm Cottages live on site and we were greeted on arrival, but otherwise left to our own devices which we found ideal. It was good to know that any problems would have been promptly sorted should they have arisen. Highly recommended for an easy-going break.

Amazing place. Great stay!
We booked a week in Primrose Cottage and had an amazing time. The place was really clean and the facilities were great. We made use of the BBQ but did not use the pool or the hot tub due to not so warm weather. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, which was great as we didn't have to bring anything with us. The hosts were great and very welcoming. They were always there to help with any queries. Due to Covid restrictions, we communicated through phone messages but Bernardo was quick on answering all our questions. The place is 10 minutes driving to Bude, where you can find the beach and great places to eat and drink. You have as well supermarkets to do your shopping if you fancy a quiet night in at the cottage. Highly recommend this place! Great place as well to start if you want to explore more of Cornwall as not very far from the main A road. Thank you for welcoming us! We really enjoyed our week at your place!

A perfect getaway
This is our second stay in The Nook and it won't be our last! The site is just perfect. With beautiful countryside views in a peaceful location but still just a short drive to the local beaches, Bude Canal and the town centre, Hilton farm Holiday Cottages offer the best of both worlds. Plus all the additions of an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, games room, laundry room and even some nearby ponies and horses to make friends with. Oh, and I think we've all fallen in love with Marhamchurch. Faye & Bernado equip the cottage with milk, coffee, tea, washing up liquid, kitchen spray, tea towels etc. So it's a whole extra bag of stuff you don't have to pack! I've seen a previous comment about Faye & Bernado not welcoming guests - this is not correct. They are not intrusive and let you enjoy your holiday, but if you need them they will help. On both stays, we've been greeted by Faye or Bernado on arrival and they have been welcoming and helpful. We had a couple of queries whilst staying and they helped us out straight away. We stayed in The Nook with our dog, and our friend stayed in The Stable and we all had a really lovely time. My only hesitation in recommending Hilton Farm Holidays is that they might get so popular they will be booked up! I'd better start organising our next trip now! Hannah, Dave & Bella the dog

Absolutely Beautiful setting! Lovely place to stay!
Visited Hilton Farm May half term 2021, went as a family group of us, staying in Badger, Primrose and Swallows Nest cottage. We had the best 1 week stay! The location, setting and accommodation was absolutely perfect. The pool and hot tub were just perfect too! Adults and the children had a great week. Would highly recommend and definitely be back at some point. Thank you again Faye & Bernardo.

Few issues but overall had a good break
We stayed in Parsons which is a semi detached property with a "private" hot tub. We purposely booked this property because of the hot tub Couple of negatives before of all the positives ! NEGATIVES: HOSTING - Other reviews suggest hosts are welcoming and engaging our experience was not the case. I appreciate we are in social distancing measures and rightly so however we had no contact at all not even "how is everything" or "if you need anything" and we were not even aware of where they lived on site or what Faye and Bernardo looked like so we could have at least said Hi as we walked by. We appreciate that hosts are busy but we were guests and a quick hello would have been so nice. WINDOW CLEANER It would have been nice to be advised that a window cleaner was due rather than making us jump ! (fortunately we were decent !) Maybe a friendly note or text if you do not want to say hello in person ? FLIES - We also had a massive issues with flies in the main bathroom and back bedroom which filtered down into the lounge - to be fair I didn't question it until I found about 50 of the blighters buzzing around in the bathroom - when I did Faye seemed to be aware that there could be a problem due to house next door having their loft sprayed - it must have been obvious in the house we stayed in as even when we got there those windows were open (the only ones) but even then there were about 10 dead flies on the window sill and sink and about 8 in the bedroom. HOT TUB - The hot tub - although private in that it was just for the occupants of Parsons ie us it was not private from a "private garden" point of view - anyone coming down the main drive or the properties next to us could totally see us in the tub - may be put a low privet hedge where you have a wire fencing along the boundary ? BE AWARE that due to COVID cleaning (again understandably) the hot tub will not be available on your first night as it has not heated up to temperature - we were only advised of this by text whilst driving down which was a massive shame as after 8hours driving that was to be our reward ! POSITIVES BEAUTIFUL location and quiet - just right for a peaceful few days. HOT TUB very relaxing although always aware of neighbours on walkabout BEDS, duvets and pillows very very comfortable and clean. HOUSE generally very clean. LOG BURNER Loved the log burner as the evenings were a bit chilly (didn't want the central heating on)! We would recommend to family and friends looking for a peaceful break but would advise not to expect any welcome or the hot tub not to be in action on their first night - (this was maybe just our experience)

Amazing location, fantastic cottage and very friendly management
This place is beautiful. This is our second visit. The accommodation is clean, well equipped and cosy. The site is fabulous, lovely sea views, swimming pool and hot tub are brilliant. The owners are really friendly, helpful and seem to work tirelessly to keep the cottages and site perfect! The location is great, just a short walk to the lovely village pub, the Bullers arms which is friendly, dog friendly and welcoming and allow you to eat takeaways there while drinking!! Really lovely holiday.

Wonderfully relaxed and comfortable break
What a lovely place - the View, the Peace, and Heated pool & Hot Tub make it work in any weather! There are play facilities for young kids, swimming and tennis for the older ones, and it's in easy reach of the best surfing beaches and lovely places to visit in Cornwall and Devon. Highly recommended.

About the neighbourhood
We are in a peaceful rural location on the edge of a small village with a pub and small community shop. We are about 10 minutes' drive from the coast and the small seaside town of Bude. Here you can pick up the South West coastal path and enjoy the spectacular scenery or just choose a beach where you can spend the day. Try the Sea Pool on Summerleaze Beach in Bude. We are close to Widemouth Bay which is a popular surfing beach and there are plenty of other watersports available locally. Bude has restaurarants, pubs and shops. Further afield, Padstow, Clovelly, Tintagel, Boscastle, the Eden Project are all within an hour's drive with the Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock and Cotehele a bit further away.
Getting around
We are not on any major public transport routes. The nearest mainline train station is Exeter or Plymouth (about an hour away). There are infrequent bus services to Exeter, Plymouth and Barnstaple from Bude. The area is best explored with a car. We are a few minutes from the A39 which connects you to North Devon and the rest of North Cornwall.
