About the neighbourhood
The Rame Peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty with secluded and far-reaching sandy beaches, magnificent scenery, spectacular walks plus great surfing to be had.
A number of villages are situated in Rame, they include Millbrook, Kingsand, Cawsand, St Johns, Crafthole and Whitsand Bay is situated at the centre of them all. It is located at the head of an amazing cliff top area, giving close access to sandy beaches, coastal walks, villages, and buses and driving routes directly into Cornwall. The Southwest Coastal Path starts at Cremyll and winds its way through the 800-acre Mount Edgcumbe Park, which is probably one of the most beautiful estates in England today.
Getting around
Even though Whitsand Bay is in Cornwall, it is only 7 miles from Plymouth city centre, with a direct bus service that stops outside the Fort. The bus also goes to Kingsand/Cawsand and Cremyll where you can catch the ferry to Plymouth.

Therefore, it is centrally located which allows you to venture further and deeper into Cornwall or pop back into Devon to explore the coastline and nearby towns and villages therein.

How to get there
Airport: Exeter: 60.0 km
Railway: Plymouth: 12.0 km
Ferry: Plymouth: 12.0 km
The postcode is PL10 1JZ, depending on where you are coming from but I guess you will be approaching Plymouth on the A38 from the east so look for signs for Torpoint Ferry and use that to get across the Tamar to Torpoint. Then just continue out of Torpoint for about 2 miles and turn left in Antony, up towards Whitsand Bay until you reach a T-junction where you take a left. Carry on for about 1/2 mile and you will see a right turn just past a large MOD Fort, Whitsand Bay Fort is sign posted. Follow the coast road for about 3 miles and the Fort is on the left. Turn on to the site and the reception is on the right and the car park is just past with car parking for those staying at Lodge 28 on the right-hand side. The lodge is back past reception, through a set of gates on the left, down the pa... more
