The Old School House, is a comfortable dwelling of rustic charm, peace, and beauty. At the turn of the century the residence of the village schoolmaster and today a place to escape and unwind. Placed in the heart of the hamlet of Porthpean in a wonderful rural setting, yet minutes from amenities, the School House is the perfect place for your holiday. The cottage has beautiful sea views from all the windows, a rambling country garden and a deck on which to have a drink and watch the wildlife. Buzzards circle overhead, house martins nest next to the bedroom window and in the field adjoining are rabbits, cows or sheep. Within five minutes you can walk through the field onto the cliff path towards Blackhead with beautiful views of the coast. In the town itself there is a cinema, award winning family run brewery, ten pin bowling, leisure centre, beautiful Parish church and shops. The local area has much to visit. The historic Charlestown harbour is five minutes by car from the cottage. There you will find Square Sail Ships, gift and tea shops, pubs, restaurants and a Shipwreck museum. People like to fish from the harbour wall or sit outside the pubs and watch the world go by. It is often used as a location for films. There are picturesque fishing villages nearby such as Fowey and Mevagissey and many sporting opportunities. There is...
Getting around
We do have guests who come without a car. There is a bus service ten minutes away on foot and it is possible to walk to the shops etc
