4BR / 2BA (2Q, 2D, 2S) -sleeps 10 - Classic older beach front cottage with a beachside deck for enjoying the sound of the waves and ocean views. The house still has the original pine panels on the walls and ceilings. The central area of this home is the kitchen, dining, living combination. The living area is surrounded by windows so you have outstanding views of the beach and ocean. The bedrooms are on either side of the house. Also each side has a hall bath, both with tub/shower combinations. The 2 beach side bedrooms each have a queen size bed and a TV. The two street side bedrooms each have a double and one twin bed. All bedrooms have TV's. Come enjoy Edisto in this cozy "right on the beach" cottage. Just a short walk to the stores and restaurants in the 100 blocks. Also the State Park ...

Small House, Lots of Rooms
It's hard to find a house on the beach for 2 couples. This house was a great value even though it has 4 bedrooms and sleeps many more than we had. There have been upgrades to the countertops in the kithen and bathrooms/some applicances. It still has that old feel due to all the paneling on the walls. Bedrooms are very small and cramped due to the furniture. Dining room table is too big and takes up a lot of space. It was nice to be closer to the top of the island and the beach was literally right there when you stepped off the back deck (which has been upgraded and looks fantastic).

This home is a true beach cottage and it works so well for 2 couples or even just 2 adults and some children. What I like best is sitting on the deck and watching the sunrise (my family rented the house last year and fell in love with it!). Come again - prices are great during the fall and winter months.

Dusty, roaches, but great location.
No doubt about it, the location and the house is great! The downside of this rental is clear. The week started with 1 or 3 roaches in the bathroom on the floor, and a water roach in the hallway. Each day it got worse until the last day opening cabinets with roaches crawling all over the dishes! I didn't even want to walk the beach 1 extra time to say goodbye. I wanted to pack and get out as soon as possible.
I have been vacationing in Edisto since I was a child and now take my child but I will never stay in that house again.
We all left with bruises because there is too much large furniture in a tiny space. They'd be better off taking it out. Some windows have shades, some don't, and the ones they have you can't open for fear of breaking them.
Thank You and would love a suggestion for our next stay.

I am sorry that you had trouble with pests this visit. It seems that once it started raining late summer, many homes were bothered with pests. This home has so much charm and being so close the stores and restaurants - great location! Please give us a call and we will be glad to help you plan your next visit.

Ideal beach front location...with pesky roaches and poor maintenance
My family and I have traveled to Edisto Island almost every summer since 1993; so, you can say we have a pretty good idea of vacation rentals at Edisto Island. Part of our family (4 people), our 2 small dogs, and a friend stayed at Sea Oats during August 2012. We were more than thrilled with our beach front location. If we could review our stay based on the location and deck alone it would be 5 stars, however, the old cottage house was not as pleasant. Even though the bathrooms were recently remodeled, we spent our first night at Sea Oats cleaning the entire house (vaccuming, dusting, everything...). It was hard to believe that Maintenance had left a note proving they had just tended to Sea Oats. The palmetto bugs were awful during our stay. Never have we encountered this huge of a bug problem; we actually had to buy pest products to minimize the multitude of roaches. Considering our problems consisted of maintenance issues, we wouldn't turn down Sea Oats to anyone, in the hopes that Edisto vacation rentals maintenance would consider spending more time and effort in preparing homes like Sea Oats. Sea Oats is a great home, it just needs a little bit more attention and care.

Thank you for using Edisto Realty for your August vacation. You are so right about the location and the sundeck. What spot. I am sorry that the house was not cleaned to your liking. I hoped you had called our office so we could send someone down to take care of the areas that were of concern to you. Edisto Realty stands behind all of our homes and we want to know when items need attention. I see that we had a report from you for pest control. Pests can be tough to control during certain seasons or even after a heavy rain. I can assure you that the homeowner has the home treated on a routine bases. Please think of Edisto Realty for your next vacation plans.

Stunning Views, Small Space
This house is in a great location and has a really nice deck with beautiful ocean front views. The ocean is literally steps away from the back door. The living room while small also has great ocean views.
Unlike other reviewers, we did not find any live Palmetto bugs (a southern brand of roaches which usually live outside), but we did find 1 dead one in a bedroom which had not been vacuumed up. The management company did assure me the house is regularly treated for pests and had been treated very recently. The cupboards and drawers did not show any evidence of infestation.
The style is definitely consistent with an older beach front home. The house could use a bit of updating. However, if you are a family on a budget looking for an affordable no frills vacation, this house will do the job.
We traveled with 4 adults and 3 kids. The house does have 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, but there is too much furniture for the square footage. The bedrooms are small and packed with beds. There were dressers in each room, but no closets or even hangers.
The kitchen is the most open space in the house, but could be better organized and equipped.
Parking leaves something to be desired as it is just a sandy space in front of the house, large enough to park 2 cars end to end.
We love Edisto and will definitely return again, but while there are some houses we have stayed in which we would rent again without hesitation, this one doesn't make that list. Edisto Realty makes the rental process easy and we have used their services on three separate visits. I highly recommend them.
With some of the shortcomings, but the location and view factored in, if this house had rented for approximately 15% less, I would have rated it a great value.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent Edisto Beach vacation. This is the time of the year when the homes are getting spring cleaned and kitchen inventory is updated - we will definitely re-stock the cabinets. You are so right, this is a great house for a family on a budget who wants to be beach front. There are small rooms but the views!! The owner has already started work to improve the parking - thank goodness the Town of Edisto Beach allows parking on Palmetto Blvd. We look forward to your next Edisto vacation and thank you for being a loyal Edisto Realty customer.

Book at your own risk!!!
My wife, Granddaughter and one of her friends arrived on 7/23/16. The house is in a beautiful location and was close enough to the water with spectacular views. My wife said that she felt like she needed to clean as the base boards door jams, etc., were dirty. We had a window blind on the bedroom window on the beach that we found broken, reported it Sunday but it was never fixed.
We found what I thought were mouse droppings on the kitchen floor but turned out to be little worms. They seemed to come out at night. We picked up what little we could and carried on. However, on Thursday morning 7/28/16, we awoke to our granddaughter and her friend begging us to leave. The reason why was this. These apparent worms were now all over the floors in all rooms. Additionally, the friend now had numerous bug bites on both arms and legs. She had received these bites while she was asleep in the bed.
I gathered up a number (not all) of these bugs, took pictures of them, put them in a clear plastic container and was at the Reality office when they opened. As aggravated as I was with what I was found, the response of the staff was unacceptable. They identified these worms as caterpillars. They stated that they appeared this time of year coming out of the palm trees. They agreed with me that they were gross but that they had them in their houses also.
It should be noted here that this was the 5th summer we had spent at Edisto Beach. The last 2 years we had been at the Moody House and the Wyndam Resort. We had encountered Palmetto bugs, spiders and small lizards on occasion but nothing like what we had now experienced. Their attitude could be boiled down to as," suck it up and move on!"
We checked out that day and I requested a refund or credit as we were checking out 48 hours before oue time was up. They stated that the owner 'may" make the refund. Also, the owner "may" send an exterminator over. We traveled over 12 hours on way, paid over four thousand dollars just to be grossed out by unacceptable accommodations not of our making. The staff would not tell me the name of the owner of their phone number.
After stripping the bed of our linens we found a brown worm crawling along the bed clothing. I video taped that worm. Edisto Reality has not acknowledged my repeated emails about this problem. Additionally, I have emailed the listed owner of the agency as listed on the Edisto Reality website but have received no response.
While understand that not everything is going to go smoothly, I find the interior of the Sea Oats unacceptable and could expect similar conditions from a flea-bag motel not a expensive vacation house. Additionally, I found the response from the Reality office staff completely unprofessional. I could not in good conscience recommend the Sea Oats to anyone.I can accept old but not dirty.
I am normally not a complainer but this was over the top in my opinion

So disappointing
Our family booked this rental at summer rates because we wanted a beachfront location this year. The house was small but we expected that from the pictures online. It is a very simple house with the original paneling and had an older feel. It could have been fixed up slightly with even a few accessories but there were no pictures on the walls, no shells, no beach accents anywhere but on one wall, which was a faded picture of beach shells.
Upon entering the house, we noticed a can of raid bed bug spray in the kitchen. Of course I was suspicious but we went in and checked under all mattresses Etc and everything looked nice and clean, complete with brand new mattress and box spring pads , new pillows, new comforters. In the back of my head this also raised a red flag because I wondered why... We made up our beds and went to sit on the deck. Eventually hubby went to bed around 11 o'clock and the rest of us sat outside, thoroughly enjoying the ocean waves and breeze. I cannot say enough for this deck. It is absolutely wonderful and the best part of the entire Cottage. We went inside and were playing games at the table when my son-in-law was met with the first bed bug on top of the comforter he was laying on in his room. Long story short, we found several more in another bedroom and were freaked out! We ended up sleeping all night in the deck chairs with no blankets or pillows, not even enough chairs for the six of us. It was a long night and we slept for 1 hour from 5 to 6 a.m. At which time we showered, and packed all of our belongings , tying them up in plastic bags to seal them shut before loading our car. In the process we threw away all our luggage, our own pillows, and blankets.
The realty office did not open until 1 o'clock so we had even more time to waste, already being exhausted from a 12-hour trip the day before. I cannot say enough good about the Realty Company, as they bent over backwards to get us into a new location and even provided us with fresh Linens. However we wasted the first 24 hours of our vacation with a sleepless night and being forced to do laundry one bag at a time in the new house. Needless to say this cast a very dark cloud over our heads for the rest of the week.
We have been vacationing at Edisto Beach since 1988 and will definitely return but this experience this week was not what we had hoped it would be. Precautions have been taken to clean the home but I would advise against anyone renting 206 Palmetto for a long long time because bed bugs take forever to get rid of.

We value our customers feedback, positive and negative. With so many people traveling and staying in hotels and motels, a break out of bed bugs is something none of us can be prepared for. We were sorry that getting you settled took until we opened the office Sunday. We contacted the owner and he immediately took action with pest control, removed all the bed sets, bed covers, pillows, mattress pads, blankets, living room furniture. The home was professionally treated, cleaned and inspected, ready for the next guest. While we agree that bed bugs can take a while to get rid of, we find they are more readily eradicated when an owner is as proactive as the owner of 206 Palmetto Blvd. Thankfully, numerous follow-up inspections have not found any additional pests. Please know we appreciate your business and hope to see you again.

What a Mess
This place has a long list of issues!
Upon arrival we found that the storm door to the deck would not open. Maintenance came to fix it but couldn’t and ended up taking it down, propping it up under the house because he had to order a part. Said he’d be back to fix it...haven’t seen him since. None of the TVs worked because the Directv was out. Tech was supposed to come Wednesday to fix it but never showed. So we had no tv service all week. The siding is coming off under the window on the deck. The ceiling fan in one of the queen bedrooms didn’t work. The dryer made a gawd awful noise when it was in use and it had to be run several times to dry items completely. There was a random door propped up against the wall in front of it. We only assumed it was supposed to be mounted there...who knows? There was also framed picture sitting on the floor propped against the wall too. The filter in the filtered water faucet needs to be replaced because water barely trickled out. The tubs were so slippery we had to go buy non slip matts for everyone’s safety. One of the front bedrooms had five lamps. Only one worked. I think that bedroom is just storage for junk that doesn’t work. The mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable and their covers needEd replacing. The red comforter (if you can call it that) in one of the queen rooms had a big hole in one corner. The carpets are filthy and stained as is the living room furniture. The sofa has a big hole in one of the arms. We had to get a plumber to come fix the sink and drain in one of the bathrooms. The best thing about this house is the location and the deck. Renters beware! This house is not as advertised! I feel ripped off because I paid premium price for sub-standard accommodations. It kinda felt like we were staying in one of those cheap $40 a night hotels and not a $4600 house on the beach.

Most Uncomfortable House On Edisto Beach
I can't say this enough, if you have a decent-sized family or guests, you aren't going to be comfortable in this house. The only comfortable piece of furniture in the living room was the sofa and it wasn't big enough for everybody. The other two chairs are small and hard, the dining table is tiny with uncomfortable chairs. Finding a comfy spot for everyone to watch a movie was impossible. The furniture is sadly inadequate. The location of course is wonderful, but you can only stay on the beach for so long. We love Edisto Realty and deal with them every year for our vacation home, but this house is one that is not going to see a repeat stay from us.

Will Not Stay Here Again
This house may sleep 8 but there is only one small shower and a huge garden tub nobody will use. The bathroom on the North side of the house is a tiny 1/2 bath.
The washer/dryer is located under the house in a little room. Hauling laundry up and down the steps is a big turn off for us while on vacation
All of the furniture has seen better days and very uncomfortable
The kitchen is well equipped but 2 people would be in each others way. Very small.
The sunroom is nice but windows will not open and if they did there are no screens
There are just 3 of us on this trip. We can’t imagine more than that number being comfortable here.
