ABOUT THE FARMHOUSE
Our family came to The Farmhouse at Delettes in 1989 as a retreat where we could relax and have lots of fun. Our guests who have been coming to us since 1989 tell us that the fun continues, and they also find the same relaxing atmosphere, as well as enjoying all the facilities The Farmhouse offers, which make a really great holiday, even if it is only a weekend break.
The Farmhouse was set up as a family home and we have kept it as a home from home, equipped for comfort and relaxation. It has full oil-fired central heating and constant hot water. It has four bedrooms sleeping up to 9 persons but can sleep up to 10 - 12 people on a sofa bed and inflatable mattresses. Our housekeeper, Anne-Marie, lives close by in the village.
It is great at any time of year, whatever the weather. There is plenty to do for children of all ages (and their parents, grandparents and friends). There is a games room with a table-tennis table and table football, a large selection of music, lots of books, an activity barn off the courtyard with badminton and a full-size trampoline, and a large garden. The heated pool is normally open from May to mid-October.
Families who have stayed say it is one of the most relaxing holidays they have had, with the children fully occupied, and plenty of private spaces for everyone to enjoy. Over the years, our guests have used the farmhouse for everything, from celebrating anniversaries and reunions, to spending a quiet romantic weekend 'à deux', enjoying the tranquillity of the house and garden.
It has a calming atmosphere all of its own, as well as an ability to seemingly expand to absorb large parties and to feel homely if there are only two of you. Perhaps it is something to do with being the site of a monastery farm for many centuries and being able to shut out the world with the enormous courtyard gates. Who knows, but families who have stayed and come back again and again have said it is one of the most relaxing holidays they have had, as the children are fully occupied and there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves.
Come and visit and experience the magic of The Farmhouse at Delettes.More

Interaction with guests:
The Farmhouse has been cared for by the our local French family, the Ducrocqs, since 1989. Anne-Marie lives 200 yards away and is on hand for any problems, as are other members of the family, all of whom live in the village. You can ask her for farm milk, eggs, and butter.
Keys are collected from a security box next to the gates.
Holiday time is precious so we give full directions with map, detailed house notes, and a long list of things to do in the region for all ages and interests, tested restaurants, plus good shops, to start you off getting to know the area, and enabling you to relax and start enjoying your holiday as quickly as possible. The Farmhouse has loads of information, guides, maps for walks, and reference books.

Given that the weather was not the best that week, the Farmhouse facilities certainly fitted the bill for keeping our guests entertained and most importantly their children happy, a key element to having a restful and fun holiday for the grown ups. The sense of...More
The area is steeped in history and has rolling countryside with river valleys. There are a lot of marked walks and trails for walking and cycling.
St Omer is the local cathedral city with a Saturday market in the square. The rest of this small city has a wealth of 18th and 19th century buildings in cobbled winding streets, small squares and alleyways, and wonderful
roof-scapes.
There are a lot of museums and activities in the immediate region focussing on all aspects of its history including the The Hundred Years War (Agincourt about 30 minutes away) to WWII with the La Coupole museum. Lille is 1 hour away as is the Western Front from Ypres to The Somme.
The coast at Wimerieux, Boulogne and Le Touquet is 45 - 60 minutes away.
Getting around
A car is essential as we are in a rural area.
Local taxis are available in St Omer. Our housekeeper can arrange.
There is also good cycling along quiet roads and tracks across fields.
