ABOUT THE FARMHOUSE Our family came to The Farmhouse at Delettes in 1989 as a retreat where we could relax and have lots of fun. Our guests who have been coming to us since 1989 tell us that the fun continues, and they also find the same relaxing atmosphere, as well as enjoying all the facilities The Farmhouse offers, which make a really great holiday, even if it is only a weekend break. The Farmhouse was set up as a family home and we have kept it as a home from home, equipped for comfort and relaxation. It has full oil-fired central heating and constant hot water. It has four bedrooms sleeping up to 9 persons but can sleep up to 10 - 12 people on a sofa bed and inflatable mattresses or larger parties depending on the mix of adults and children. Our housekeeper, Anne-Marie, lives close by in the village. It is great at any time of year, whatever the weather. There is plenty to do for children of all ages (and their parents, grandparents and friends). There is a games room with a table-tennis table and table football, a large selection of music, lots of books, an activity barn off the courtyard with badminton and a full-size trampoline, and a large garden. The heated pool is normally open from end of April to end of October. But check as it can depend on weather at each end of the season Families who have stayed say it is one of the most relaxing holidays they have had, with the children fully occupied, and plenty of private spaces for everyone to enjoy. Over the years, our guests have used the farmhouse for everything, from celebrating anniversaries and reunions, to spending a quiet romantic weekend 'à deux', enjoying the tranquillity of the house and garden. It has a calming atmosphere all of its own, as well as an ability to seemingly expand to absorb large parties and to feel homely if there are only two of you. Perhaps it is something to do with being the site of a monastery farm for many centuries and being able to shut out the world with the enormous courtyard gates. Who knows, but families who have stayed and come back again and again have said it is one of the most relaxing holidays they have had, as the children are fully occupied and there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy themselves. If your booking ends on a Sunday you can usually leave as late as you like, especially useful for weekend bookings. Please check with us first. Come and visit and experience the magic of The Farmhouse at Delettes.

Another wonderful stay at the farmhouse in Delettes.
Well here we are again. 6or 7 times. Three generations of same family ages from late 70’s to 13 year old. Very large garden, good sized enclosed swimming pool, courtyard and lots of covered areas in barns where you can play badmington, tennis or pickleball. Trampoline and lots of toys for younger children. Parking for cars ( we came in 3). We tend to cook outside as much as possible and there’s bbq etc for thst. The kitchen is a fair size and equipped with pretty much everything you need. Loads of crockery, glasses, cutlery and cooking utensils. Two lounges and a nice sized dining area. The outside areas (garden one side and courtyard the other side) have patio areas with tables and chairs for all of us. The size of garden etc is such that even with 8 of us there was enough room that we could spread out to avoid each other should we want to. Plenty of shade for sunny days and plenty of shelter should it rain. One of the lounges is also a playroom. Our youngsters usually hook up their games machines and charging stations here. The other lounge is nice size and more adult orientated with a hifi set up. The dining area seats quite a few (it’s my memory, oops). 1 v large bedroom and 3 x twin bedrooms of reasonable size. Plenty of bathroom/ shower and hand washing for us all and toilets up and downstairs. Set in lovely countryside with supermarket 10 minutes away. St Omer is an attractive town with bars, restaurants, churches etc. 20 mins away. Le Touqet, Bolougne and wartime cemeteries are all about 45 minutes away as is Calais. The farmhouse is a great place for large groups to get together with space enough that you’re not on top of each other. Lots of loungers for, well, lounging. We will be back!

Another wonderful visit
I have been coming on holiday to this farmhouse since I was 9 months old, I believe the latest visit (last week) was my 22nd visit and I swear it gets better every time. It's the perfect place to switch off and read a good book. There is lots to do in the local area, lovely restaurants, walks, themes parks etc, but likewise, you can very happily spend each day in the garden with a good book. I couldn't recommend it enough!

Large property with outdoor pool
Farmhouse set in the small village of Delette. House has a very large secure garden with fenced off outdoor pool which is a really good size. The lay out is a little quirky with a shower room and two separate toilets upstairs switch a shower room and separate bathroom downstairs. Bakeries are a short distance away in the near by town and only a 15-20 min drive to St Omer which has many restaurants etc. there are also some local takeaway chip vans for a quick eat should the need arise. Very traditional French farmhouse feel. Main bedroom is very large. Other beds upstairs with single beds. Downstairs has a lot of space but it is not very open plan and a large group may find it difficult to manoeuvre around each other. One of the sofas in the games room could do with replacing

Fabulous farmhouse with lots of space
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a base not too far from Calais. Amazingly well-equipped place with masses of space and bags of character. We were two families of 4 and 5 respectively (all kids under 12) and it fitted us perfectly. Inside there are two living areas, one more for adults (with a very cool record collection) and one more for kids (with Playstation, table-tennis etc.). Outside there are multiple spaces, including the courtyard area, a playbarn and a back lawn where the pool is situated. We visited in October and the mild weather meant that the pool was still usable (for the kids at least !) Looking forward to returning in the summer for lazy BBQs in the sun.

Another great week in the farmhouse.
Well, after Covid, we needed a break. And, as always in Delettes, we weren’t let down. All the usual comforts and so much room to hide yourself, even if you’re in a big group. Everything you need is in the kitchen and there’s also bbq for when you want an al fresco cook up. Very pleasantly surprised at the new glass surround to the pool. It really opens this up and you view the house and gardens from there differently. We loved this change. And my, when it’s 30degrees C, the pool is a saviour! Beds were comfy and there was plenty of shower, toilet and bath provision to prevent queueing. Lovely and clean all round. Games room with tv, table tennis and plenty to occupy all ages and a lovely lounge with loads of music to while away some down time. Plenty of activities for children in the barns as well as a tennis court. So much to do without going out. Supermarket about 3 miles away (8-8). St Omer well worth a trip around 5 miles away and about 30 miles to Le Touquet-Paris-Plage (beautiful beach, shops and restaurants). Also around 30 miles away are, Calais, Boulogne, and plenty of other lovely coastal towns. Beautiful rolling countryside is great for walking and cycling. Highly recommended and “we’ll be back”!

Another excellent holiday in Delettes, chez Hamilton
Been coming here over the years since 1994 and the farmhouse never fails to impress. Loads of space, well-equipped, and always clean and tidy. Great base for visiting Dunkirk, Le Touquet, St Omer, Agincourt, Cap Gris-nez and plenty more places of interest e.g. Ypres only 65km away. We used the bbq, the swimming pool and played frisbee on the huge back lawn. Plenty of room in the barns for our 5 bikes too. Can't wait for our next visit and show off the Farmhouse to new guests.

At last l!!
So pleased to finally get to our ‘French retreat’ with our group of friends, having originally booked for June 2020 - you know the rest! We’ve visited regularly over the years and always have a thoroughly relaxing long weekend enjoying all the facilities on offer. As always Nick has been very helpful throughout, moving our booking to June 2021 then again to this year. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Fantastic holiday house and beautiful grounds
We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Delettes. We have been waiting two years after our original May 2020 visit was deferred by Covid and throughout that period Nick was excellent at rolling our booking on and communicating with us. It was great to have such an easy trip there via the Euro Tunnel (and took less time door to door than other U.K. holidays we have taken!) Great care has been taken in restoring the Farmhouse and it is very well equipped. With a sitting room, dining room and games room (including a full sized table tennis table) it has all the indoor space you could need but the real star is the outside space. There is an indoor play barn with trampoline, climbing frame, badminton court and ride on toys as well as a huge garden and amazing swimming pool. Ours kids could not have been happier. There are lots of places to visit nearby and we only wish we had booked for longer. Highly recommended!

Perfect Quiet country retreat for a large family gathering
We were lucky enough to spend our October half Term at the fantastic farmhouse with our 7 and 2 year old children. The location is great, only a 45 minute drive from the tunnel crossing and easy to find, with plenty of parking space in the secure courtyard. The facilities at the house we're plentyful with both indoor and outdoor games for all ages, the outside space is great for the kids to play safely. We fell in love with the amazing Willow tree and swing. Our children particularly loved the plethora of ride on 'vehicles' (of which there were about 20!) and the trampoline, which they could use under cover on rainy days! The house was incredible with loads of room to spread out, have some quiet time if needed or have a little dance whilst listening to some golden oldies on records - a first for the kids! The house was really well equiped also with extensive written recommendations from previous guests for the local and surrounding areas. We loved the walk around the village - where we fed the local horses, met the local farmer and his calfs, and our son loved sitting in his tractor. The villagers were friendly and extremely tolerant of our limited French. The local village butchers wares is a must to be sampled. All in all we had a lovely relaxing week at the farmhouse and we will definately be back - this time in the summer so we can get to try the pool next time! It was a bit cold in October.....

Delightful rural retreat with so much to do and see in easy reach
Bits of the farmhouse date back to the 17th century, but it has all the comforts of the 21st that you could want. The wonderful collection of ride on toys made us all wish we were about 60 years younger - surely a wow for all children. But we did manage the lovely pool! Just a 40 minute hop down the A26 from Calais makes it a very easy place to get to from the UK. And we were joined by relatives who had a rather longer but perfectly manageable drive from the Netherlands. Locally, lots to see. Flanders is full of history and pretty towns - our favourite was Cassel. The coast is an easy drive - Le Touquet probably the nearest. And it's only a 45 minute drive to the Louvre outpost in Lens, which is well worth a visit. Great holiday. Thank you.

About the neighbourhood
The area is steeped in history and has rolling countryside with river valleys. There are a lot of marked walks and trails for walking and cycling. St Omer is the local cathedral city with a Saturday market in the square. The rest of this small city has a wealth of 18th and 19th century buildings in cobbled winding streets, small squares and alleyways, and wonderful roof-scapes. There are a lot of museums and activities in the immediate region focussing on all aspects of its history including the The Hundred Years War (Agincourt about 30 minutes away) to WWII with the La Coupole museum. Lille is 1 hour away as is the Western Front from Ypres to The Somme. The coast at Wimerieux, Boulogne and Le Touquet is 45 - 60 minutes away.
Getting around
A car is essential as we are in a rural area. Local taxis are available in St Omer. Our housekeeper can arrange. There is also good cycling along quiet roads and tracks across fields.

How to get there
The Channel Tunnel “Le Shuttle” operates from the Cheriton terminal at Folkestone on the M20 about an hour from the M25 junction. There are usually frequent trains every hour throughout the day up to about 11 pm, depending on the time of year. Journey time on Le Shuttle is 35 minutes. The Farmhouse is about 45 minutes from the Shuttle terminal at Sangatte in Pas de Calais or the Calais ferry terminal. Most of the ferry companies operate from Dover to Calais and can be accessed from the end of the M20 – about 15 minutes beyond Le Shuttle terminal. All the crossings often have special fares for short break/excursions. Journey times from London or when you are the Kent side of London can vary according to the time of day but as a guide, using the Channel Tunnel, we reckon it takes around 3.5 - 4 hours door to door from Central London to The Farmhouse at Delettes. Your journey time may be different if coming from North of London on the M25 over Dartford Bridge or from the west of London and around the Southern M25. Full directions, maps from Calais and house notes/area information are given prior to departure. There are two EV charging points in the village opposite the church.
