About the neighbourhood
Our own village of Lavausseau is five minutes drive away, or a pleasant thirty-minute walk. The village has a restaurant and bar serving traditional french cuisine, traditional French bakery and pharmacy. Lavausseau boasts one of the last remaining tanneries in France, with regular guided tours, visitors centre and gift shop. Vouille is 20 minutes drive away, and is a very attractive small town. Here on a Saturday morning you can visit a traditional French market. later relax with a coffee in one of the bars and watch the world go by, or have a meal in one of the restaurants. Vouille also has two large supermarkets on the outskirts of the town. The immediate area has numerous small pretty villages to explore.
How to get there
Easily accessible from Poitiers Biard Airport (30 mins); La Rochelle, Tours (90 mins) and further afield Limoges and Nantes (< 2 hours). Budget flights from most regional airports during the summer months through to mid September. ( Ryanair into Poitiers) Ferries to Cherbourg, Caen, St Malo, and Le Havre are nearest with drive time of about 5 hours. The TGV runs to Poitiers - only half an hour away. A car is essential and at least one of the big hire operators has a presence at each airport and there are several close by the train station in Poitiers. For more details - please email us
