Finding a holiday let to suit 8 children of various ages and 7 adults - 3 generations of our family - is not the easiest thing, but we could hardly have designed somewhere better than Middle Coombe Farm if we'd tried. Everyone loved it. The location is beautiful and very secluded; there is so much on site for everyone to do and all well maintained and for our exclusive use: we hardly needed outings. Angela's care of this fascinating, listed site is really inspiring, and she made us all so welcome. Both buildings - the house and the barn - are very well equipped and comfortable; the whole site felt like home for a week and we just had an amazing time.

Perfect Country Getaway
Where to start? When 19 former school friends wanted to get together for the first time in a decade we looked for the ideal place to house all of us, without everyone having to bunk in the same room, and we found that there really aren't many places that have that kind of space. And I'm happy to report there is no compromise in the quality of the stay for how much space you get at Middle Coombe. Every couple had a double room to themselves, with only two singletons needing to share a room...but both with their own beds.
Middle Coombe is countryside living, and a great getaway from the work grind. Our group all went school together in the Westcountry, but now many of us live in London and cities, so it was a nostalgic return to the countryside with old friends. With ample space, there is plenty of room to store all the food (and drink) you need in the pantry and wine rack room, so you don't need to be driving into Tiverton every day for more. But, should you wish to, its only a 15 minute drive, and there's huge superstores to do a big shop for all your stays needs.
Angela was a brilliant host for us, showing our first arrivals around the property and how to work everything from the hot-tub to the fire-pits.
We couldn't believe how much space there was. With a group of almost 20 we wondered if we'd be able to have dinner together, relax in the living room together, and just generally 'hang-out', but this was never an issue.
The games-room barn is huge, with table-tennis and pool. The kitchen has a large, long table, enough to get a big group around. And the patio out the back of the house has another large table covered with a canopy, and by an outdoor fire and chimney.
The grounds are expansive and a (literal) breath of fresh air.
We're already looking at when we can book in our next group trip back to Middle Coombe. And this time, maybe in the Summer so we can use that huge pool!!

Fabulous Stay
Fabulous property and facilities! The whole family loved it, especially the pool, hot tub, games room and barbecue area. A genuinely warm and welcoming host who immediately made us feel at ease. We would honestly consider ourselves lucky to ever go back x

Gorgeously peaceful retreat!
Fabulous weekend spent at this beautiful barn. The hosts were so helpful and welcoming. The barn was warm and comfortable with everything you could need for a self catering holiday! It was spotlessly clean, and we were given use of the pool and hot tub as there were no other guests, which was a lovely surprise!
It’s a lovely, secluded, away from it all place to be!

Fantastic Holiday House
All three generations of our family and two dogs have just enjoyed an amazing week at Middle Coombe Farm. It was an ideal location in these fraught Covid19 times. Everything was organised by Angela and her team to have the house, and everything in it, spotlessly clean. The heated swimming pool and the hot tub were enjoyed by all. We seldom left the extensive property all week other than to buy food as there is so much to do.

Tranquil paradise
We had an excellent stay at Allenstown Barn deep in the beautiful Devon countryside. The setting was quiet but not too far to both north and south Devon coast. Accommodation was spot on and we were looked after well by Angela and the team. The grounds were fantastic even in the rain and the 200 acre wood on the Doorstep was a delight. Thanks Angela

We will be back
Booked Allensdown Barn - lovely cottage with door step access to ten's of acres of countryside which our dog absolutely loved. Convenient location and not too far from the motorway which was a plus.

Perfect wedding venue
The venue was perfect, beautiful views, with all facilities catered for, even a swimming pool & hot tub, both of which had plenty of use. Friendly, efficient staff who couldn't do enough for us. Dogs (and children) are welcome, which is very refreshing. We were all very sorry when the weekend was over as we didn't want to leave such a lovely place. We sincerely hope to stay here again.

Fantastic wedding and holiday venue
We had our wedding here in 2011 and had 100 people staying with us or in the surrounding areas. Angela was an absolutely wonderful host — fun, funny, and very enthusiastic and helpful. It’s a beautiful set of buildings and things to do, squirrelled away in a lovely little valley. The reception in the woodland glade surrounded by strange little sculptures was especially memorable.
We yesterday visited again with our kids, and Angela again was extremely lovely to us. We had a wander around, and they had improved things again.
I would strongly recommend this venue for weddings, holidays, bar mitzvahs — we are hoping to go back for our 10th wedding anniversary.

Beautiful spot for a 3 generation family holiday...
Our family have just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday at Middle Coombe Farm. There were 17 of us, ranging from 3 to 80 plus one dog. Angela, who owns the farm, was very helpful before we went, and hugely welcoming when we arrived on a very rainy, blustery day! We all arrived almost together to find a full Devon cream tea waiting in the kitchen and Angela gave us time to settle before giving a fabulous tour of the site. The kitchen in the main farmhouse has everything you need to cater for a large group, and enough seating inside and out for everyone. We had a couple of issues with showers, but it was sorted out and there are great showers down at the pool area too - nice and hot after a dip in the outdoor pool - a little chilly but we went in every day! We made very good use of the pool, hot tub, barbecue, the outdoor fire place is just brilliant (Angela even has a basket of blankets to use so we could stay outside all evening) in the gorgeous courtyard. The swimming pool was fantastic (if a little cold!) and the hot tub was perfect. We had use of the renovated cider barn too for indoor table tennis, table football, and we took our own yoga mats for sessions of relaxing and stretching. It was also a lovely place to also have our family talent show one evening. There are lots of books, DVDs and kids toys to entertain the younger children while grown ups were eating and the woods were wonderful for short or longer walks. You are free to wander and there is plenty of space to go and find a quiet spot for yourself if wanted. We really could not recommend Middle Coombe Farm highly enough, everyone had a great time, so thank you for giving us such a lovely place to make memories....

What a fantastic review and it is truly appreciated!! you know we absolutely loved having you all onsite and it was such a pleasure to see all the kids collecting blackberries to make jam and being asked not to tell the adults as it was a secret - what fabulous kids they are a great credit to parents and grandparents. So much to say about you all but maybe just to sum it up by saying that it was such a pleasure to watch you all enjoy every space every day regardless of the weather . We would welcome you back any time and we have since installed a back up air source heat pump for the outdoor swimming pool when the solar is not enough for it to work on its own so the pool is decently warm now and a special mention to Stuart Thank you for your advise and being the spokesperson for your group. My lovely chats with Barbara and Paul and I will stop now as you know me I could go on forever!!

Tiverton is a place of interest with the history of the Heathcoat fabric factory, and John Heathcoat himself, lived in St. Peter Street, near to the town centre.
Tiverton is primarily a market town, with a market taking place every day and a car boot sale on the Sunday.
Near to there, Uplowman, where we're based is still very much a rural village, just 10 minutes drive from Tiverton. In the other direction, Bampton, is also a small town selling a lot of local produce from their fruit & veg and butcher's shops. Sampford Peverill, a 5-10 minute drive away has a farm shop, tennis courts, play area, and also the golf course and nearby railway station.
Sampford Peverill is a part of the canal walk, the basin starting in Tiverton. Along here is a traditional horse drawn barge offering trips along the canal in the Summer season, a tea room, including a floating one on a barge itself.
