This is one of those wonderful places I really don't want to flag up because it really was so good. It was everything that it says in the description ... and more!Tucked away off the main road leading to the beach, it's easy to find. It's an idyllic location. Everything inside is excellent - comfortable beds and bedding, great kitchen and a good sized living space with a high ceiling, all well decorated and furnished/equipped. TVs and high speed internet connectivity. Outside there is a nice lawn with a raised deck with a good supply of chairs. There are excellent local services where you can source supplies and then you can be on the beach and in the sea in five minutes. Helen, the host,is very helpful and responsive. We booked at short notice and everything went smoothly in terms of payments and the return of deposit etc. It may be of interest to note that we travelled by public transport with young kids and our view is that it's entirely feasible to do so. Clearly a car has some benefit but readers may like to know that the public transport option is not unduly burdensome. It's certainly on our minds to return and stay a little longer. But this place is a real gem.

Perfect, family friendly beach holiday
The house is just perfect for a holiday at the seaside. There is so much to do in the surrounding area. Charmouth itself has a gorgeous beach with cafes and a few shops. The village centre has everything you would need, and both the beach and village are within a short walk of the house.
A short drive and you have the joys of Lyme Regis, Burton Bradstock and many other lovely places.
The house itself has everything you would need and is warm and comfortable.
Would definitely recommend!

Quaint, cosy & lovely beach house, kid friendly - would stay again. 5-8mins from Charmouth Beach, fossil hunting fun!
We stayed at this lovely beach house for the weekend with plans to go fossil hunting for our daughter's 6th birthday.
The rooms were nice and our 2 young children enjoyed sleeping in their comfy beds in the room they shared together.
Kitchen was fully functional and well equipped with all the utensils you would require to make a nice breakfast before a morning of fossil hunting.
The living room had good space for us to relax all together and even wind down for the evening with a spot of tv (they have a Sky box and I think a DVD player which we didn't get to use).
The house was toasty and warm, which was a lovely welcome from the cool weather.
Shops were 5 minutes down the road and we were able to buy the essentials food wise.
Even more convenient is the fact that Charmouth beach is 5-8mins walk from the beach house. We spent one morning fossil hunting and found a few imprints of ammonites as well as small rocks with small ammonites embedded in them. One family who walked past us found large ammonites on stones as well as huge imprints of the fossil.
Lyme Regis is about 7-10mins drive from the Beach House - it's a busier town with a lot of restaurants, gift shops and Monmouth beach and Lyme Regis fossil beach is a good walk and great for fossil hunting.
Helen was great at communicating and very accommodating to meeting our needs.
Highly recommend staying at The Hideaway - we'll definitely be returning!😊

Lovely house, great location
My husband and I took a break with our 2 teenage grandchildren. We were all impressed as soon as we walked in. The Hideaway is beautifully furnished and equipped. The very reliable WiFi pleased the kids, as did the DVD player, large screen TV and Sky+. The living room and open-plan kitchen were spacious and attractive and the bedrooms really comfortable. The garden is a pleasant place to relax with a decked area where we often took our lunch. Away from home, it is really well situated: the beach is an easy walk, as is the town centre, providing a good takeaway/cafe and a couple of pubs, a well stocked mini-market and a general store. We hardly needed to use the car, but a trip to Lyme Regis was worth taking.

Perfect!
Absolutely beautiful cottage in an amazing location. Me and my daughter stayed here for a week during half-term. The house is fab, extremely comfortable with everything you could possibly need. The village of Charmouth is so pretty and peaceful with the best stocked local shop I've ever seen! We were able to wander down to the beautiful beach (2 minutes walk) and spend time fossil hunting (we found loads!!). The house is perfectly located for a quiet, relaxing holiday but we were able to walk along the beach into Lyme Regis for shops, bars, restaurants and the most eccentric fossil/dinosaur museum I've ever seen!
The beach is stunning and my daughter declared her holiday in Charmouth was 'better than Disneyland'. The perfect cottage for the perfect English holiday, we'll be back!

The name says it all: The Hideaway
The Hideaway is a lovely little, but spacious wooden cottage/bungalow. It has a twin and a double bedroom and the living/kitchen area are well equipped. The bed is extremely comfortable, so much so, that I am intending to find out what mattress is on it. The seating consists of two armchairs and a leather comfy settee. As we were there in January, we also used the log burner, but the heating does keep the place nice and cosy. The kitchen has fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and a washing machine, not that I used the latter: I was on holiday!
The setting is perfect, hidden away behind two houses, which don't overlook the place, a nice garden area with decking on the higher ground from where you can just see the sea.
And, to top it all off, only a very short walk to the seafront and beach. The village has everything you need with a little supermarket, butcher, bakery open on certain days, pizza/fish and chips take away and a pub. And all within walking distance too!
We loved it there!

Excellent accommodation in delightful location
The Hideaway is an unusual bungalow, very well furnished and equipped with Wi-Fi and sophisticated TV and radio facilities. The private garden is a lovely environment in which to relax and eat after the rigours of tackling the glorious coastal and inland walks and its location so near to Charmouth beach is a delight.
Charmouth has everything you could need, newsagent, groceries, post office etc and enough decent eating places should you want to try them. There really is something for all ages.

Wonderful Hideaway in Charmouth, Dorset
We enjoyed a lovely short break at The Hideaway in Charmouth, Dorset. The Hideaway holiday cottage was just superb. So lovely to stay somewhere so charming and with all mod cons. We loved it. Log burning stove was a lovely touch, as it was cool in the early May evenings. The location of The Hideaway was perfect, so close to the wonderful coastline of Charmouth. We certainly didn't need the car while there. Walking to Lyme Regis and back again was a highlight, as were the abundance of eateries and pubs, all so close. Looking forward to staying again.

Charmouth is a historic village with over 30 listed buildings set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Known as 'The Gateway to the Jurassic Coast' it's beach is world famous for Fossil hunting and the Heritage Coast Centre on the beach has a full programme of activities and fossil hunting walks for all ages.
The village has Tennis Courts,a Bowling Green and a safe playground surrounded by 12 acres of playing fields.
A really good selection of shops cater for all needs and include a grocers which is open untill 9pm daily.
Close by and visable across the bay is the historic town of Lyme Regis offering quirky shops, great restaurants and a sandy beach.Heading East the market town of Bridport has a weekly street market and a good selection of individual shops and restaurants.
River Cottage HQ in Axminster is also a short drive away.
For the more active there are some excellent golf courses. Both Lyme Regis and Bridport Gold Clubs are within a few minutes drive and offer spectacular scenery aswell as great golf. Fishing trips leave daily from Lyme Regis and Horse Riding in the unspoilt countryside is a delight.Probably best of all bring your walking boots and head off along the coastal path or follow the river Char inland through the meadows.
