Amazing find so close to the Jurassic Coastline!!
What more can I say other than WOW! Wissett Cottage is not only a home away from home, it's an amazing find in a lovely little village.
My husband and I were here during the start of the lockdown but it didn't stop us from being able to enjoying everything around us and the fantastic local area.
There are so many coastal walks that you can go on, Old Harry's Rock, Dancing Ledge and Durdle Door to name a few.
We were unable to enjoy any of the local pubs/restaurants, etc due to them being shut but the cottage is well equipped with a great kitchen so you can prepare and cook your own food easily.
The beds are super comfy and you just sink into them at the end of each night and drift off to sleep so easily.
The large lounge and the welcome DVDs and book corner are a fantastic add on for those who do want a quiet night in with a book or a movie or 2 to watch.
We look forward to coming back to the cottage again later in the year once everything is open again so we can explore more areas and enjoy the great hospitality at Wissett Cottage!

Our 4th Stay at Wissett Cottage!
Well, once more we are drawn back to this beautiful cottage situated practically in the centre of Corfe, with just a short walk to all the local shops and great pubs.
You have everything you will ever need here for a lovely relaxing stay. The cottage is extremely spacious but at the same time very cosy. The lovely kitchen is well equipped and the impressive dining room gives you lots of room to play games, we always take a game and a jigsaw to complete, but I think there are other board games etc provided. Kate and Chris the owners seem to think of everything you might need and so everything is right there in the kitchen and throughout the cottage. You are within walking distance of a well stocked local shop /post office for milk, etc. and where you can get cash back too. The bakers is there for bread and lovely pasties. All in all I can’t recommend this place enough. We came a little later in the year this time but that was governed by the fact that I was going to see Will Young in Bournemouth and found the cottage to be free that same week. It gets booked up really quickly so don’t leave it too long to book for next year. I believe there was a free week for the forthcoming school holidays because of a cancellation, but that may well have been taken up already ?

Perfect holiday cottage
An amazing cottage which is as lovely inside as outside.
Very helpful owners who are quick to answer any questions you may have.
This cottage has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay.
The kitchen is extremely well equipped and the beds are so comfortable you need never to fear not getting a good sleep.
The cottage is situated on a main road but traffic dies away by early evening leaving it very quiet for sleeping.
A regular bus service operates from the stop beside the cottage making it very convenient to leave your car and avoid parking charges and finding parking if you are unfamiliar with the area.
All in all this was a great find and we will definitely be booking again for next year to visit more of this beautiful area.

Home Away From Home
Yet another wonderful stay at Wissett Cottage. This was our 3rd Christmas here. Corfe Castle is the perfect home base to explore the Isle of Purbeck. Wissett Cottage makes returning every evening like coming home. The cottage is spacious and comfortable. It is full of all of the amenities you could want or need. The Christmas decorations and holiday goody basket made for a warm festive visit.
This trip we returned to Tyneham Village which has a poignant story and several nice hikes. We visited Hambeldon Hill with its spectacular views. Stopped at two small but fascinating places, Old Wardour Castle and Fiddleford Manor. Our hike to Kingston form the cottage provided sensational views of the Castle. On this hike we stopped at the Scott Arms in Kingston for a nice lunch. We joined the National Trust for a hike out to Old Harry Rocks to see the Winter Solstice sunrise followed by breakfast on Studland beach. Went to Durdle Door on Boxing Day and spent our last day exploring the grounds of Lulworth Castle. Even with all our activities we found time to spend a few quiet moments in front of the wood burner at the cottage.
Corfe at Christmas with all the lights and decorations is just a wonderful place to be. The Castle is all lit up for Christmas. Wandering around the grounds after dark with the beacons and braziers is a magical experience. There are special holiday events for people of all ages.
We had the opportunity to dine at the Fox Inn which was a first for us as it has been closed and we were not disappointed. We also made it to the Greyhound and Bankes Arms as well as the Half Way Inn. All are very good but the Half Way Inn has become our favorite.
The owners Kate and Chris make the booking process easy and always make you feel welcome.

Fantastic Olde world cottage
We arrived in really foul weather but the cottage lifted our spirits ( No not Gin) It was out of this world, so old but so modern. We wanted for nothing, everything was there including logs for the log burner which was brilliant in the evenings although the cottage was very warm anyway.
The location was ideal being so handy for many of the local attractions and restaurants.

Wissett Cottage is beautiful, comfortable and well equipped. We fell in love with it and the local area. It is a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the village and the castle can be viewed by stepping outside of the driveway. There are low ceilings in some of the rooms but this wasn't a problem for us. The area is also beautiful with many things to do. We hope to be able to return someday.

Perfect place to stay
Everything about this cottage is perfect.
The owners have made sure you have a relaxing stay in every way they can, from the detailed arrival instructions to helpful notes and advice inside the house. The cottage itself looks tiny from the road, but is actually huge. It's homely, comfy and well-equipped.
It takes a couple of minutes to walk into the centre of the village. You can make it down to the castle for opening time to avoid the rush, coach tours and school trips. Corfe Castle village is a lovely place to stay, with some nice pubs, a fab bakery amd some cute gift shops and well stocked village store.
A 15-minute drive takes you to the beautiful beaches of Studland Bay, and there are so many amazing attractions within an hours drive, it's impossible to fit it all in during one week.
It's easy to understand why so many people writing on TripAdvisor and in the cottage's visitors book say they've visited before - or will be back again in the future.

The Isle of Purbeck is a part of Dorset which roughly encompasses the area east of Lulworth Cove to Shell Bay, at the mouth of Poole harbour, to the small market town of Wareham at the northern reaches of Poole harbour. The beauty of this world-renowned coast line is unsurpassed and vistors who venture a short distance inland will be enthralled by what the Isle of Purbeck has to offer them. Dominated by the majestic Purbeck Hills, its gently rolling landscape has provided shelter and sustenance for mankind over thousands of years. Today, this beautiful area is dotted with quaint villages comprising cottages built from the locally quarried Purbeck limestone, giving them their unique character and charm.
The village of Corfe Castle, named after the ruined fortress which stands proud at its gateway is the largest and most populous of these such settlements. Within its bounds, you will find four traditional English pubs, a superb bakery, a delicatessen/general store and a post office. The Swanage Steam Railway operates from the station within the village and, of course, the castle itself is a fantastic visitor attraction. Walkers and cyclists alike will rejoice in the ready accessibility from the village of numerous routes into the picturesque hills and vales. The traditional sea-side resort of Swanage with its variety of amenities is a short 5 mile ride away. The scope for nature lovers to indulge their interest is endless, whether it be: dolphin watching from the cliffs of Durlston Country Park; watching the migrations of bird life at Poole harbour; surveying the landscape for mammals such as Sika deer or, indeed, reptilian life which is indigenous to the area's heathlands. All in all, the Isle of Purbeck offers something for everyone.
The cottage is centrally located within the beautiful Isle of Purbeck. Regular bus services to Swanage, Wareham (connecting with nationwide Network Rail services) and Poole operate through the village, stopping close to our Front door.
As well as this, the heritage Swanage Railway operates a mixture of steam and diesel-hauled services between Swanage, Corfe and (in summer months) Wareham.
Of course, our magnificent scenery is, for many, best enjoyed on foot. A plethora of superb walks within the Purbeck Hills and to the world-renowned 'Jurassic Coast' can be accessed directly from Wissett Cottage. Maps and guides are available for your perusal during your stay.
