We loved our stay (our second stay) at Belview Cottage. Perfect position, in the heart of Dorset countryside, and an excellent, well looked after cottage. Gillian and Brian are always helpful and keep the premises in immaculate condition. Definitely worth a visit all the way from Tasmania :-) We hope to come again in the not-too-distant future. Thanks

Rural location provided quiet tranquility save for the occasional lowing cow. Accommodation well equipped and presented to a very high standard. Local information regarding shops, places to eat and useful amenities (doctors, dentists and even vets) all well documented along with a wealth of information on places to visit in Dorset. Local roads quite narrow but very picturesque. Mobile signal...

About the neighbourhood
The small market town of Sturminster Newton is set on the banks of the River Stour, reached via a graceful, six arch 15th century bridge, carrying a warning of deportation for those who damage it! The whole area acted as inspiration for the works of Thomas Hardy, who wrote Return of The Native, whilst living in the town. The region is dotted with thatched cottages, rural walks, stunning country views, and fascinating towns, such as Sherborne, with its abbey and castle and Shaftesbury, with its famous Gold Hill, whilst the beautiful Dorset Heritage coastline is also within easy reach, making this an ideal base all year round.

Belview Cottage is about 45 minutes by car from the A303 - why not stop off at Stonehenge en route for some fresh air and a close up of the world famous ancient stone circle?

Holidaymakers from Europe will probably find it easiest to get the ferry to Dover and will then have a wide range of stop off points along the way.
