Exploring Arran
Beautiful setting and just a stones throw from Brodick harbour, it’s a perfect location to explore the stunning island of Arran. Plenty of space, 2 of the bedrooms are huge and our party of 5 middle aged gents never felt in each other’s way. The bungalow had everything we required with lots of in house information to hand. Only 1 slight (first world problem😆) is that an updated WiFi (island/geography issue?) and maybe a Bluetooth speaker would complement the experience. Correspondence from the host was excellent, a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.

Thank you so much for this lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay at Quivive. We already have fibre internet and don't believe this could be bettered on the island, but hope any perceived limitations didn't spoil your use of the internet during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back in future.

Fabulous
Another terrific holiday at Quivive. It is a beautiful holiday home with fantastic accommodation for 8 people. The facilities are great whether you want a relaxing holiday or to be out and about. The views are beautiful and there is easy access to Brodick and Lamlash along the beach road. Beds are extremely comfortable and all linen is provided. The conservatory, living room and snug are great for offering space to spread out and also for getting together in the evening. The wood burner makes for a cosy atmosphere. The enclosed garden is spacious so children can have a great time playing out there with no worries about them. We always buy bird food (hardware store in Brodick) and get a fantastic selection of wiidlife visiting us. Only recent concern are new glamping pods next door allow dogs and they may chase away the wildlife. Looking forward to next year’s calendar opening so we can get out booking in.

Weekend at Quivive
Spent a long weekend with my family at this gorgeous cottage in Corriegills in Arran, the cottage had everything we needed and more!! Spacious 4 bedrooms, lovely open plan dining room and living room and fantastic conservatory, lovely sitting in here with a glass of fizz enjoying the views. Kids had a ball, kicking a football and walking down the path to the beach. The log burning fire was mesmerising every night sitting chatting and playing games. Highly recommend to all great place to stay for a holiday in Arran, made more lovely family memories with the next generation as my sister and I came here when we were kids. Many thanks and we will definitely be back!!

Your comment about the double mattress is quite unexpected, as we've previously not had any adverse comments about any of the mattresses. Nevertheless, we're delighted you were obviously able to enjoy your stay.

A house that offers space, comfort and lovely views
It’s not always easy to find a holiday house for 8 that feels spacious on all fronts - for eating, relaxing and sleeping - but Quivive does just that and more. It’s in a beautiful, private setting, yet with all the benefits of being between Brodick and Lamlash. We had fantastic weather so enjoyed breakfast outside every day, with lovely views of both Goat Fell and the sea, but the house is clearly well suited to all weathers. It is very well equipped and the owners have really put thought into ensuring guests can enjoy their time in the house - eg a large TV, big sofas, sizeable dining table, very relaxing sun room, wood burner, electric blankets, comfortable beds, hairdryers etc. The setting has all the benefits of being between Brodick and Lamlash yet with lots of privacy. There are wonderful walks straight from the house, whether down to the shore or also up high to an Iron Age fort giving one of the best views of Arran. All in all it was a perfect house for us to enjoy being together as a family.

A perfect family holiday house with plenty of space and views of the sea and hills
In a quiet location, Quivive has all the amenities that you would expect from a holiday house. Comfortable indoor living, outdoor seating, a garden providing fabulous views of the surrounding area and a cosy log burning fire when required. We have stayed here many times, in all seasons, and will hopefully return again.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location
Modern and spacious cottage just outside of Brodick, recommended for families or a group of friends. We loved using the fireplace on cold evenings and sitting in conservatory watching ferries coming into Brodick. Kids loved running around in the garden. You can do a circular walk from the cottage on the path all the way to Lamlash and then on a different back to Brodick. The cottage has excellent facilities, well equipped kitchen, Netflix for those rainy days, very good WiFi and heated blankets in beds. The owners were very friendly, helpful and replied quickly to any of our enquires.

INFORMATION ON ARRAN Golf, cycling, watersports, fishing, walking or just relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery - Arran has it all ! OVERVIEW Inhabited since neolithic times, Arran is one of the most southerly Scottish islands and is located in the Firth of Clyde between Ayrshire and Kintyre. Arran is 19 miles long by 10 miles wide but has a remarkable diversity of landscapes and seascapes, thanks to the fact that the ancient Highland Fault Line literally crosses through the middle of the island. The pretty villages on the beautiful coastline of Arran are complemented by a rugged and mountainous interior in the north and green rolling hills and woodland in the south. Whether you are looking to get away from it all, have an action-packed break, visit friends and family or just uncover the hidden delights, there really is something for everyone here. THINGS TO DO Arran in one day A great way to get familiar with the Arran is to spend your first day driving a circular route. From Quivive, you can start going south, passing Lamlash, Holy Isle and Whiting Bay where you can stop at some beaches or enjoy a drink in the various pubs and cafes along the shore. Kildonnan is the next community along the coast, and our favourite as this is a great place to spot otters – if you have got sharp eyes, binoculars or a spotting scope, and lots of patience, as these are shy animals and will not be waving at you. We have had most luck along the shoreline from the Kildonnan Hotel going southwards – a great walk even if you you are not lucky enough to see otters. If you are an otter enthusiast, start scanning the water around 3 hours before high tide. Continue driving southwards and you will come to Kilmory and then Lagg with the Lagg Hotel which is one of our favourite places to eat – wonderful fish and chips. As you follow the coast you willl come to the Kings cave where you can make a brief stop. Continue on the main road along the coast with beautiful views of the Mull of Kintyre until you reach Lochranza. Make another stop here to visit a 13th century castle ruin and, if you are lucky, meet tame deer which can often be seen wandering around. You are most likely to see them if you turn left into the golf course. Then carry on driving along the track that bisects the golf course to the far side of the bay. When you cant drive any further, park ready for a wonderful walk along the coast, around Newton Point until you reach the white cottage at Fairy Dell. Also in Lochranza is the only distillery on Arran - an ideal spot for lunch. If you are interested in seeing how whisky is made, the distillery offers tours of their facility as well as tastings of their fine whiskies. The cafe serves lovely home made food in an informal and relaxed setting. Continuing along the main road, you will cross the north of the island, surrounded by beautiful mountains until you reach the east coast of Arran. The main attraction is Brodick castle and its beautiful gardens. Check the opening times (these vary by season), and if you have time stop for a visit - it is well worth it. Along the coast from Corrie, you may see gannets diving and if you’re very lucky, basking sharks. Further along lies Brodick itself, a good spot for a bit of shopping with its larger supermarket and bakery. You can then drive back to Quivive. Full day excursion - Hiking Goat Fell If you enjoy a more strenuous hike, Goat Fell is an ideal challenge on the Island. At 874 metres, it's the highest peak on the island, with amazing panoramic views of Arran, the Mull of Kintire, the mainland and on a clear day Jura, Islay and the Irish coast. The entire walk can be done in around 5 hours, but you can make a day of it by stopping for a picnic lunch along the way. Ideally you should set off from Quivive around 10-11 am so you can enjoy the best part of the day. There are 2 main paths to reach the summit, one starting from Brodick castle and one (steeper but possibly more scenic) from the village of Corrie. Although steep at points the path is well maintained and once at the top you will be rewarded by some truly stunning views. You will be able to truly appreciate why Arran is called Scotland in miniature as the different landscapes and rock formations will extend in their diversity all around you. Golf There are seven golf courses on Arran providing a range of challenges. The Arran Golfing Pass allows you one round of golf on each of the seven courses: Brodick Golf Club — par 65. The course is entirely at sea level making it accessible for golfers of all ages and capabilities. Lamlash Golf Club — par 64, 18 holes. A serious challenge for golfers of all abilities. Whiting Bay Golf Club — par 63, 18 holes. Spectacular views to the Holy Isle and the Ayrshire coast. This course has some of the most difficult Par 3s on the island. Shiskine Golf & Tennis Club — 12 holes. Has recently been ranked amongst the top 100 golf courses in the UK. Machrie Bay Golf Club — 9 holes. Suitable for golfers of all abilities. Lochranza Golf Club — par 70, 18 holes. This is a demanding and challenging course and at 5,487 yards is the longest on the island. Corrie Golf Club — 9 holes. Spectacularly beautiful and challenging.

How to get there
The easiest option is to drive to Ardrossan and take your car on the ferry to Brodick which is only 2km from Quivive. The ferry is a very good deal now that the Scottish government has subsidised RET (road equivalent tariffs) to slash prices. If you fly to Glasgow airport, we would recommend hiring a car for the short 40km drive to Ardrossan, keeping the car for the duration of your stay on Arran. Alternatively you can catch a train from Glasgow Central to Ardrossan Harbour to get straight onto the ferry as a foot passenger. You could then manage on Arran without a car, as there is a good bus service, but we would recommend hiring a car in Brodick.
