The Lodge, is a spacious property comprising the front half of an architect designed Arts and Crafts house.

One double bedroom, one twin bedroom, one single room and a modern shower room are upstairs, along with a comfortable sitting room. The dining room and kitchen and new second shower room are downstairs.

The Lodge has the Visit Scotland Self Catering 3 Star Award and the Green Tourism Silver Award.

The garden is screened by trees and shrubs. Guests have exclusive use of the front lawn and part of the drive with parking space for at least two cars..The garden and surrounding land attract a wide variety of birds and wildlife. There are varied local walks to hills and moorland, as well as through the quiet village to woodland.

I was greeted by a circular driveway, a delightful garden and the impressive stone facade of this large home. Janet is a great host and hotelier with the right combination of personal touch and professionalism. The house is a welcoming early 1900's beauty with wonderfully big rooms, gorgeous cornices, wood work and comfortable furniture. The house has real character but all mod cons as well. Parking is easy and the garden is very sweet. Janet is very warm and welcoming also and was available anytime but never intrusive. All basics were provided which is great...

About the neighbourhood
Gleneagles Golf Course, is not the only local course which guests can easily enjoy. Previous golfing guests recommend Muckhart, Dunning, Muthill and Crieff amongst others within easy reach.
The nearby small town of Auchterarder has a wide range of very good shops and places to eat.
Within a half hour drive are a number of castles worth a visit. Stirling Castle and Doune Castle are favourites with guests.
Blackford has lovely views towards the mountains for the highlands,to the north and is very near the rolling Ochil Hills to the south. So there are many pleasant drives and walks and places of historic interest to visit nearby.

Airport: Edinburgh: 72.0 km
Railway: Gleneagles: 7.5 km
Just off the main A9 north of Stirling.

Bus services from Perth (hourly) and Stirling (daytime) .

Regular trains from Edinburgh and Glasgow (minimum hourly - til late) to Dunblane Station (15 minutes drive). Trains from Inverness, Aberdeen and London to Gleneagles station.(7 minutes drive) Local taxis available to book.

Both Edinburgh and Glasgow Airports are served by good very frequent shuttle bus services to mainline stations with regular services to Dunblane station.

Driving from both Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport is on motorways or dual carriageways to the Blackford turnoff. The Glasgow route is only slightly further (80km) but is busier. Estimated time (Google Maps) to Blackford from Edinburgh Airport 47mins /Glasgow Airport 50mins
