Condo/Apartment
No.1 The Old Convent is a one bedroom ground floor apartment which has just been renovated to a very high standard. The work has been sympathetically carried out retaining some of the old character such as the natural stone walls but adding some modern features like central heating and double glazing! With its curved walls, arched handmade doors (by Chris), high ceilings and split level floors (only two steps) this apartment is truly unique The Old Convent was originally built as a church in 1842, then converted into a convent 'St Scholastica's Priory' in 1891, the nun's took residence in 1892 until 1922 when the remaining nun's were moved to Holme Eden Abbey. Some of the nun's are buried in the graveyard at Fort Augustus Abbey, half a mile from the convent on the shores of Loch Ness. ...No.1 The Old Convent is a one bedroom ground floor apartment which has just been renovated to a very high standard. We are close to main road with the convent woods to rear giving you privacy, and a fantastic view of golf course and Ben Tee to front. The property is ready for guests arrival from 4pm unless otherwise arranged, we ask that guests leave by 10am on day of departure as we need time to clean for next guests. If No.1 is already booked for your preferred dates please enquire about No.3 or No.4.More

Stayed in No 1 the first week in August. Immaculate, unique and spotlessly clean. This is the most delightful apartment you could imagine, with charming owners. We will certainly make a point of returning.

About the neighbourhood
Fort Augustus is central to the Highlands and is a great location for hill walkers with plenty of munro's and Corbett's to choose from and of course Ben Nevis in Fort William only 40 mins drive. You are spoilt with the fantastic mountain biking tracks in the area. The steam train to Mallaig is very popular and a must see is the Isle of Skye. There are lovely woodland walks in Fort Augustus full of wildlife and ideal if you want to bring your dog. Boat trips, canoeing, horse riding, fishing and bike hire available locally.Fort Augustus is the perfect place to relax with a short walk to the center of the village where you can find grocery shops, butcher, post office, ATM, petrol station and several pubs and restaurants.
Getting around
There is a bus service between the main towns around the area however we do recommend that you have your own transport to really see the best of what is on offer in this area.
