Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Superb Acommodation in Fort Augustus
We booked The Boys Dormitory after reading a crime mystery written by JD Kirk. The Abbey is mentioned in one of his books so being avid fans of his as he is from Fort William we had to book a stay. The penthouse apartment owned by Mark and Laurie is superb. The views of Loch Lomond are first rate. Location wise Fort Augustus is quaint small village and its a place where you can go to chill out and turn the mobile off. We'll be back in 2024. Probably one of the top 5 places i have stayed in during my travels globally.

Like living in a castle
10/10 recommend. I would stay here again. The Boys Dormatory is located at the top of the Fort Augustus Abbey. This building is incredible. The features of the abbey remain and are incredibly charming (It is a little bit like staying at Hogwarts). There is a pool (including a sauna and steam room), a billiards room, outdoor giant chess board, and the abbey grounds are beautifully kept and right beside the shores of Loch Ness. The Abbey is a 5 min walk to the shops of Fort Augustus. The suite itself is decorated very nicely and retains the windows of the old abbey. The flat is bigger than it looks in the pictures. The kitchen is quite large and fully supplied with appliances, dishes and cooking utensils. There is an unobstructed view of Loch Ness through the old abbey windows in the living area. We were very happy staying here.

Luxurious apartment in a gorgeous setting
The Boys Dormitory is an extraordinary apartment in an historic Benedictine abbey, right on the shore of Loch Ness. There's nothing the owners haven't thought of to make your stay comfortable, from the bathrobes, to the Scotland-related video library, to the well-appointed kitchen. We enjoyed watching the light change on the loch from the gorgeous gothic windows in the living room, and there's plenty of hiking right out the door of the abbey. Fort Augustus is a charming village with some great pubs and cafes. A fabulous place to relax.

A magical place to stay in the Scottish Highlands
The Boys Dormitory really is a special apartment. Superb individual decor and view of Loch Ness. It was a wonderful base for discovering the Scottish Highlands. We stayed for a week. I wish it was longer. Cannot wait to stay again.

Perfect in every way!
We had a wonderful stay at The Boys Dormitory. The apartment is absolutely stunning with views to die for! Mark has thought of everything when renting out his beautiful apartment and we will definitely return. The prosecco and milk were a lovely touch too. If you’re looking for a perfect base to tour the Highlands, then look no further!

WOW WOW WOW - fantastic apartment with amazing views
The Boys Dormitory exceeded expectations even though I have read all reviews. I cannot recommend this apartment enough, it has stunning views over Loch Ness, the apartment is well equipped with everything that you may need. Yes there are 75 steps to climb before you reach this gem of a place - but they are worth it. Well done Mark!
