Very comfortable house with wonderful views and access to good walks.
The location is very isolated which is great. The views are outstanding and the weather and thus the light are always changing.
There are plenty of walks on the doorstep and within 5 miles.
There is a lovely sandy beach about 8 miles away.
There is an excellent shop in Achiltibuie where there is everything from the basics to fresh lobster.
There is also the Summer Isles Hotel about 4 miles away which is excellent-when open outside covid restrictions.

Excellent place to get away from it all with stunning views.
A great cottage in a super location. Plenty room inside with a good lay out of bedrooms. Great walks and fishing from the house. Local shop is well stocked and owners happy to help if they can. Went during Covid so all pubs shut at 6pm so not many meals out but could walk for super if needed. Wifi is slow but look where you're going and don't be suprised, this in itself was good though.

Wonderful Holiday
It was a privilege to spend time in this lovely house in such a beautiful location.
We were all very comfortable and happy here and really felt we got away from it all. Agree with all the other reviews re stunning views, comfy beds, plenty hot water.
Garden was well enclosed for children and pets.
Good walks up hills and along coast straight from the house, lovely little sandy beach close by. Nice snorkelling just down from the house. We have already spent a lot of time in the North West so mainly stayed local as there was plenty to do where we were. The furthest we went was a wander up Suilven followed by a trip to collect pies from the Lochinver Pie shop.
The local shop delivered our provisions before we arrived which was very helpful.
Cannot recommend highly enough, we can’t wait to return!

A beautiful place to get away from it all.
The house is extremely comfortable and well equipped with enough kitchen pans and appliances to be able to cook absolutely anything. The beds were very comfortable and we had excellent restorative sleeps in the lovely silence. We found lots of beautiful local walks from the door and so enjoyed the nearby beach (swims for the hardy) without having to drive anywhere. The weather was not good so we didn't manage the peaks we had hoped to. Typically. they all emerged in glorious sunshine the day we left. We recommend the local shop which had lovely fresh vegetables and soft fruits (divine raspberries), so it was not necessary to drive to Ullapool.

Thanks for your review. I append google translate’s English version
“The sound of silence
Left on Aug 29, 2019 for a stay in Aug 2019
We were allowed to spend a wonderful week in the Conival. The location is incomparable for people seeking peace. Every evening offered a different mood when looking at the offshore summer islands. The house offers enough space for 2 families. It is fantastically equipped and accommodated us full of cosiness. In the area you can go hiking. Directly from the house you can fish in the sea. We caught our dinner twice: seabass, cod, mackerel and even a sea trout. All in all, Conival House will remain a treasure in the Scottish Highlands, where we will spend our holidays again and again.”
Good the fishing is worthwhile below the house. Badentarbet pier near by is now open allowing fishing for those who cannot scramble over the rocks.

Magical Place
I love this place. It's hard to get anything done because the views out of the windows keep distracting us. The scenery changes from one minute to another and when the sun comes out, it's a different world. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for, an escape from our busy life. It gave us the time and space we needed. Our dogs adored the quiet walks and garden while the sheep were kept safe by the fence. Not a single firework was heard. Perfect escape. I'd better book quickly for next year.

Refreshingly remote hideaway
This is a fine property in a wonderful location, and we had a great stay. It's very flexible, with lounges upstairs and down, so two families could share and have some degree of separation if they wanted. Very dog-friendly, with no carpets to worry about. The central heating keeps everything nice and warm - although I did find myself wishing there had been an open fireplace: somehow it feels right to come back from a long walk and get a proper fire going. It's very isolated, which is good in some ways, but can be a slight issue: 50 minutes drive from Ullapool. It looks very close on the map, but the road isn't direct at all. You have Ben More Coigach right behind the house, which is a magnificent ridge to climb, but for a lot of the other local hills you'll be looking at over an hour drive in each direction. Worth it, though.

Good that the house worked well for you. We have moved away from an open fire for a variety of practical and energy-efficiency reasons.
The Assynt hills are uniquely individual but well separated so covering them all from a single base takes time as you say. Stac Pollaidh (30 minutes away) Cul Beag and Conival are much closer than an hour’s drive and the routes to all the neighbouring hills pass stunning scenery. This together with the ever changing light makes the journey as you say “worth it, though”.

Had a wonderful time at Conival
Conival is hidden in a very rural part of Scotland with stunning views on route to this wonderful cottage. After arriving you have stunning views of the summer isles that change daily with the weather.
The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a wonderful holiday and can even be split into two individual private cottages to cater for two family's sharing this wonderful cottage.
We had an amazing time here traveling around the area, Ullapool not far for your nearest small town with ferry terminal to cross to the islands.
We saw plenty of deer with the stags rutting just Behind the cottage as were a pair of perigrine Falcons and kestrels, the seals just on the rocks in front of the cottage were there daily,we had some good fishing off the rocks just up the road with a nice sandy beach for kayaking. We loved the bike rides along the roads and to the Achiltibuie stores for daily papers. Even our whippet loved her daily walks. Summer isles hotel serves some nice food and a few drinks in the eavening as does the piping school cafe a really good breakfast.
Sadly the salt restaraunt which i was really looking forward to was closed for the season. I Would gladly recommend this place and we all look forward to visiting again.

Thanks. Conival seems to work very well for outdoor activities. The views are compelling in any weather. During the summer season there are more eating places open and a vibrant music scene both in Achiltibuie and Ullapool.

A wonderfully cosy house!
Such a great few days spent at this house with 8 of us, 4 couples. A very comfortable stay which lacked for nothing. There in the midst of a storm and we enjoyed the great selection of DVDs in the house. Made very quickly cosy with a great heating system and lashings of hot water. Great walks around and wonderful places to dine at too. Would go back in a heartbeat to this hidden gem of a corner of Scotland!

Thanks for this we have just returned from a similar mixed weather week although we managed up the newly done path on Suilven as well as Stac Polly. We used iPlayer on the tv in a very wet afternoon which worked well for a large group. I hope you come back and see the place in tranquil sunshine.

Spectacular and accessible hills Ben More Coigach, Conival and Stac Polly with more memorable corbetts further North. Summer Isles dominate the seascape to the South West. Great food in restaurants and pubs around (see Achiltibuie Tourist Association website.
Coastal walks from the house past the Youth Hostel or the more testing Postie's path for experienced scramblers from the house through to Ardmair near Ullapool. Secluded local beach or a few miles to spectacular Achnahaird beach.
Getting around
Although accessible by bus via Inverness and Ullapool, the area really requires a car.
Access
Car required
How to get there
Enjoy the scenic route from Inverness on the A9 north over the Kessock Bridge then the A835 to Ullapool. Proceed North for about 10 miles past a great view of the cliff side of Ben More Coigach before branching left to Achiltibuie and the Summer Isles. You now have 20 mile of single track road past Stack Polly before reaching the Achiltibuie peninsula with spectacular Achnahaird beach on the right. Take the left at the T junction and bear left again with the sea views south over Tanera and the Summer Isles. Go through the village of Achiltibuie and a few miles further on go past the track to the Youth Hostel, then take the road to Achduart on the right, bearing left over a small bridge. Conival is the second house beside the road.
