Welcome to the Old Schoolhouse! Formerly a Victorian school with the adjoining School Masters House, the detached granite and whinstone property was built in 1878 for children of the local estate. It was later used as a village community centre before becoming a family home. The old schoolhouse is a stunning and unique home, beautifully restored with working log fires and all mod cons. It has some quirky features including a double height 30' living room area with spiral staircase leading to a mezzanine, a traditional dining room, and a beautiful conservatory. The property is ideal for friends and family gatherings with enough space for all and a pool table, books and board games to keep everyone occupied. The House and adjoining Annexe are available for up to ten guests together, or separately accommodating eight and two people. The annexe is off the entrance hall at ground level, has a shower room, full kitchen and separate outside access if required. Peaceful, tranquil, uninterrupted far reaching views, experience the sights and sounds of nature and gaze at the black skies at night which reveal the dazzling stars and constellations. A true escape to relax and unwind, enjoy the surroundings whilst staying in a warm, comfortable home. Situated on the borders of South Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway in a designated Dark Skies area and part of the UNESCO biosphere project there are plenty of walking routes, cycle paths, visitor centres, wildlife attractions and unspoilt beaches to explore. 7 Stanes at Glentrool and Kirroughtree Visitor Centres for cycle trails. Glentrool, The Merrick and Loch Trool just some of the walks and hikes in the area., part of the Southern Upland Way. Beaches at Girvan, Croy Shore and harbour at Port Patrick. Laggan Outdoor Activity Centre - all sort of activities for all the family. Red Deer Range and Goat Park. Golf Courses in Girvan and Turnberry. Horse riding in Newton Stewart. There is information for many of the local activities and places to visit at the Old Schoolhouse, but if you wish to plan your visit prior to arrival, local tourist information websites will be helpful.
