About the neighbourhood
Biggar is a small market town in a predominantly farming area.
Top attractions in the town itself include an excellent museum and a small but outstanding independent bookshop.
For the active, Biggar has its own golf club (clubs can be hired from the clubhouse), and a tennis court (balls and rackets can be hired from the Portakabin near the clubhouse.)
The area is tailor-made for walking - you are only a short drive away from the Pentland Hills. We are happy to advise.
Getting around
Not all our visitors arrive by car. Don't despair.
There is an excellent bus service to Edinburgh that runs hourly and you can catch it two minutes from our door in the centre of Biggar.
If you want to visit Glasgow take a bus from Biggar town centre to Lanark and then catch a train to the centre of Glasgow, They run every twenty minutes or thereabouts.

How to get there
Assuming you are arriving by car, here are the details you will need once you arrive in Biggar.
Parking:
The best place to park is on the High Street LHS (approaching from Carlisle and the South), as close to The Orchard Delicatessen as you can get.
Failing that, try Northback Road behind us - both options are FREE.
Finding us:
Assuming you park on the High Street, walk through the alleyway to the right of The Orchard Delicatessen - you are now on Gibson's Close.
Walk on up a few metres until you reach some black gates on your right - look for the black-on-white plaque with the legend 'number 4' on the wall to the right of the gates.
Go through the gates.
Ahead of you will be two wooden gates - ours, number four - is the right-hand one.
Arriving by bus:
You can catch a bus (run by Houstons), that runs hourly from the centre of Edinburgh. It will drop you in the centre of Biggar. Look for The Crown Pub. Walk past it a hundred metres and turn right through an arch just after Brownlie's shop. You are now on Gibson's Close. See above for the rest!
