A wonderful place to explore the island, the house is very comfy, and there is everything you need inside. Kenny is very responsive, and has done a lot of work to renovate the house. I do recommend this rental house, I come back every year. Germain.

Unfullfilled Visit
We thought the house was excellent and we liked Port Ellen. We visited towards the end of Covid Lockdown and we were unable to have full visits to any of the distillerys. So a return is a must, to The Croft at Port Ellen ofcourse.

Large centrally located house in Port Ellen
The house has more than enough space, is very well equipped and is very centrally located. The house also has a small beautiful garden. It is located in the center of Port Ellen, the bus stop, the beach, supermarkets and pubs/restaurants are within walking distance.

idealer Ausgangspunkt um Islay zu entdecken
Wir haben uns in A`Chroit sehr wohl gefühlt.
Sauber, gemütlich eingerichtet, große Küche, kleiner Garten, was will man mehr!
Restaurant, Pub und Einkaufsmöglichkleiten sind fußläufig zu erreichen.

Wonderful stay in Port Ellen
We had a wonderful week staying in this well situated and spacious home. Somewhat basic but had everything we needed to cook in each night, with a comfy bed, good shower in a large bathroom and a cosy living room. Everywhere was brilliantly clean, and on street parking outside was easy and useful. We didn’t use the outside space but it was well kept and so spacious, would be fantastic for outdoor eating in sunny months. Would absolutely stay again!

Great wee cottage in Port Ellen
This was our second time staying here and we will book again. Cottage is clean and decently appointed. Weather was brilliant during our visit so no chance to try out the new TV. Booking with Kenny was trouble free and simple and he is lovely to deal with.

Just Book It
Just returned from a great wee break in Islay and could not have wished for better accommodation. In the heart of Port Ellen, two eating places very close by and not forgetting the local pub.
The house is very clean (extremely important in these trying times) . Well equipped for all your self catering needs and has a nice cosy feel to it. I would not hesitate to come back to Islay and return to A'Chroit.

Great holiday home in beautiful Port Ellen
Lovely, cosy, spacious , clean and warm holiday home with great garden in Port Ellen, extremely close to amenities and town center, yet quiet, and very close to ferry terminal and with two beaches within stone throws.
Me and my companions had a great time and look very much forward to come back!

Een prima huis, centrale locatie. Stranden Port Ellen op loopafstand, winkeltjes nabij. Alles wat we nodig hadden was aanwezig in het huis. Eenvoudig en praktisch.

Comfortable, warm and central.
A cosy home with parking. We received a warm welcome from the owner and had a lovely time. The house was clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. There is a pub and a couple of shops nearby,

There are several places to eat out nearby, or local shops if you choose to eat in.
Three distilleries nearby can all be walked to if you're reasonably fit - or take the car and you'll be there in 10 mins.
Watch the boats coming and going from the local marina, or watch the sun going down on the beach.
You may even see the friendly Sammy the seal.
Getting around
There is a Bus stop neat by, or bike and car hire is available.
If you feel adventurous, you can take the Sea Safari or other boat trips from the pier.

How to get there
If you're walking off the Ferry at Port Ellen (nearest terminal), it's just up the the main road and bear left passed the Islay Hotel and Spar, then two doors up.
If you're coming off with a car, you can park across from the house, and ask for the private off-road parking if desired.
If you're coming off the Plane, we can arrange a Taxi to the house.
And if you're arriving or departing from Port Askaig (furthest terminal), you'll have a 35 minute drive.
