Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Comfortable cottage in excellent location
We love Skye and visit as often as we can. This was our first visit to this cottage but we’ll certainly be returning. Glen Osdale is comfortable, well equipped, and set in an excellent location. It is relaxing and peaceful but conveniently close to the amenities of the island’s largest settlement. You get a strong sense of history, passing ancient standing stones as you turn into the cottage trackway. The cottage garden is enclosed by a fence, except for the trackway where there is a cattle grid. This proved no obstacle to some friendly neighbourhood dogs who paid us occasional visits. Borve is a crofting township so there are plenty of animals close by. We had highland cattle and a horse in the field behind us, sheep in the fields to the front. There's also a good range of birds and other wildlife in the area, so binoculars are handy. We would be happy to recommend this cottage to others.

An attractive and very comfortable cottage in a beautiful spot.
I could live permanently in this cottage. It is spacious, comfortable, warm and well-equipped. Four of us lived happily in it for a week. It looks lovely from the outside as well as inside. It is one of several cottages dotted along a side-road which make up Borve, on the north side of the main road northwest of Portree. There are splendid views of surrounding fields and hills while the car journey into Portree takes only 10 minutes. Its central position is convenient for exploring the island by car. I did not want to leave.

Large house in a great location to explore Skye
This is a very large, family home about 10 minutes from Portree. The house is well stocked and was warm and welcoming. It was a great location for exploring the island, about 10 mins from Portree (where there is a large supermarket). We were very thankful for the OS Maps in the house which helped us plan our trip (we naively thought google maps would be sufficient!). When trying to find it, there is a big sign saying "Glen Osdale" (as the house is behind another house) - follow that sign. Thank you for letting us stay in your home, we loved Skye, loved the house and would definitely come again.

Lovely place but poor check in
We stayed here for 3 nights. Cottage is really nice , neat and clean, decent size and equipped with a full kitchen. Had a very poor check in experience. The instruction for getting the keys were ambiguous and caused a lot of trouble after we reached. We called the number of housekeeper and owner mentioned in the instructions for check in that we received , but without any help. Luckily one of the neighbors helped us and connected us to the owner , who apologized for the trouble and helped us to get in. After this rather unplesent start, things got really better and better andn we had a great stay there. Car is must as the cottage is about 10 kms from Portree town. The cottage is meant for 6 persons but the kitchen does not have big size utensils.

Hi Rajesh, We're sorry for your check-in experience not being the best. It had worked for many years previously; however, based upon your experience we have decided to place a key safe at the property for future guests to use and to make it easier to find. Thank you for your feedback, it has been really useful and has improved the service we are able to offer. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday. Thanks again, Kath

A wonderful place!
Amazing place! A wonderful home! Very attentive managers who helped book the cottage, thank you Katherine Smith , Fiona, Johnny ! We immediately found the house and keys, but the look was fun! The house is spacious, in quiet location, comfortable beds, kitchen equipped with everything necessary. The only thing that was missing was a hair dryer, but this stuff. Most importantly - we loved it and want to come back!
