Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Thank you Stewart for this review. It is greatly appreciated. I'm glad that the wet weather which you endured didn't deter you from returning. I look forward to welcoming you back to Island View in the near future and will hope for better weather so that you can experience Jura at its best!

Lovely relaxing stay at a gorgeous house by the beach
We (2 adults and a 5 year old)recently spent a week at Island View and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's such a lovely little house with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a spacious kitchen and a lovely lounge with an open fire and a view of the sea...this was ideal for some evening otter spotting! The house is decorated mainly in a rustic seaside theme and I noticed something different everytime I walked into a room. Lots of lovely pictures and trinkets and blue pottery! You can tell that this property is well loved and the owners spend a lot of time here. Bedrooms are all lovely and beds are comfortable. TVs in 2 of the rooms (for watching DVDs) and the one in the lounge has various packages. The beach is so lovely and I enjoyed a couple of swims from here. It was so lovely to have a beach so close to the cottage (just across the small road...which is actually the main road on the island but is never busy) it was lovely to have a garden which was ideal for our little girl to play in, our dog to run about in and wetsuit drying! It's in a great location as it is a short drive or a walk up the road to the shop (the only one on Jura) and the Antlers which is a cafe/restaurant/takeaway. We had a lovely evening meal here (do contact to book as they don't stay open every night unless they have bookings) and gorgeous kebab and chips for takeaway on the Friday. They have lots of local crafts on sale here and the staff are very friendly. They also do ice creams and milkshakes. The Jura hotel is close by which has a bar(we didn't visit) and the distillery. We had mixed weather but made the most of it and did some lovely hikes on the island and lots of wildlife spotting!! Lots of seals bask on rocks a little further up the road. All in all a very relaxing and comfortable stay, an ideal base after our daytime adventures. Would recommend and we hope to return in the future. Also the communication from the owner, Annie was excellent. She was keen for us to make the best out of our stay and was very friendly.

Thank you so much for this review which I have just today found whilst at Island View! We have come up to replace items and freshen up some of the paint work. I was going to contact you by email to give you a special thank you for the immaculate condition in which you left the house. It is greatly appreciated. I'm so glad that you were able to fully enjoy being here. I will pass on your kind words to the Antlers too. Thank you again - it was a lovely surprise to have spotted the review this morning. I look forward to welcoming you back here. Annie

Perfectly Relaxing Week Stay
Just a short 15 min stroll from Craighouse you’ll find the charming, comfortable and very welcoming Island View. Situated directly across the very quiet road from a sandy beach the cottage boats 3 bedrooms (king, twin & bunk beds) and 2 bathrooms, perfect for a family getaway. The kitchen is well equipped and contained everything needed for self catering whilst the living room provided very comfortable sofas, TV and a log burner for a relaxing evening. Whilst we didn’t need to use the burner I would imagine this would be a great addition for the colder nights. There is also very fast wifi which is great if you want to stream any film in an evening. We were blessed with amazing weather for our week stay which meant we could spend the late afternoon/early evening relaxing on the beach with a nice drink after the day exploring the island. Seals and otters can be seen in the waters close to the shore, Sea Eagles and Golden Eagles (amongst other birds) soaring overhead and not forgetting the famous Red Deer of Jura that you’ll no doubt see all over the island. As you would expect on an island the size of Jura, eating out and shopping facilities are rather limited but the Jura Hotel & Bar (evenings only at present) and Antlers Bistro/Cafe (during the day and a couple of evenings) provide excellent food. The Antlers is also a takeaway, perfect for their Chippy and/or Kebab nights. The local Community shop is well stocked with plenty of food & drink for cooking your own meals. Despite being an Island with only 200 residents, there are enough to run whisky, gin and rum distilleries. All 3 are well recommended to visit - I can vouch for that!! The Photography Gallery and Craft/Gift shop are also well worth a visit. Thanks to Annie for an amazing week at Island View, next time we visit Jura we know where we’ll be staying.

When we booked thought we were on Islay, but actually on Jura, You need a car unless u like walking a lot. Or cycling. Wee ferry runs between islay & Jura, which comes in at felon jetty & its a 8 miles drive to Craighouse. Which has 1 hotel with bar, Jura distillery & shop, village shop & Hall the Anterlers cafe which has great home made food. Would visit islay again but not Jura.

This is a first and I don't quite know how to respond!!! I can't actually verify you as having been a guest at Island View in the month of September. The name which you have used doesn't correlate to any of the guest names. As far as I know the guests who stayed in that month specifically chose to be on Jura and were aware that the house is situated there. Thanks anyway - the info may well be helpful to other future guests! Annie

Paradise Revisited
This is the second time that I have visited this property and nothing's changed - it's still perfect!!! The first time was a few years ago with 4 girls(women), that review is already on here, so im not going to repeat myself about that. This visit was with 3 other guys, all budding amateur Archaeologists who wanted to relax, where there was an unrelatvaly unspoilt island, with stunning views and wildlife. The island did not let us down, however the review is not about the island, but the accommodation. The cottage, while still retaining its charming atmosphere had been pleasantly refreshed, with the odd few things replaced or renewed here and there. With 4 guys living there this time it was a totally different experience than the last visit. We made more use of facilities like the "slow cooker" than the oven, (easy to cook while we were out). Everything is still provided at the cottage especially in the kitchen, to much for us guys - slow cooker, toaster and kettle was all we needed. There are plenty of plates, cutlery and cups in the kitchen, an absolute godsend when nobody wanted to wash up. This accommodation suits any type of visitors, gang of girls, gang of boys or a family, its suitable for all. I highly recommend staying here and "I'll be back". John

Perfect home from home
We originally booked for April 2020, but due to the restrictions we were unable to travel. Kept in touch with Annie and rebooked for a few days in November to catch up with family on the island. Very good communication with our host and easy to deal with. The house is in a great location and you can wake up to lovely views over the bay and hear the waves lapping in the shoreline. Short walk up to the Jura Community shop, hotel (closed during our stay, but had been there before and cosy venue for a drink and/or a meal) and the distillery (also closed to visitors during our stay). House is well equipped with the 3 bedrooms and 2 bath/shower rooms and the kitchen and sitting room. Log burner in sitting room made for a cosy setting on the dark evenings and watch a movie on the NowTV. Everything in working order and pretty well maintained, clean and tidy and well stocked with hand sanitiser and cleaning materials. Didn’t get a chance to use the decking at rear of the house but during summer months be a nice spot to sit and have a drink. Would recommend for anyone visiting Jura.

Hello - I have just discovered your message. As I don't know what conversations or advice you had from a TripAdvisor consultant I can't speak for them to answer this. I don't know whether you met with the criteria for full reimbursement or whether it was treated as a late cancellation. You will need to pursue this with them and speak to a representative of T A for advice on the procedure. It's been a difficult year for everyone missing out this year. Let me know how you get on.
