Another great week at this lovely cottage. 1st choice for any visit to Bute. Could quite happily move here. Everything you could possibly want on your doorstep. Very central if you want to visit Mount Stuart, Rothesay or Ettrick Bay. A lovely walk over the field to Scalpsie Beach for seal watching. We will be back next year dates permitting...

About the neighbourhood
Bute is ideal for appreciating the great outdoors. Wonderful walks and cycles to enjoy on quiet moorlands, beaches and lanes. Wildlife is in abundance with seals, otters, basking sharks, porpoises, ospreys and fantastic sea birds around the island. Kayaking, horse riding, sailing are all available.
There are 3 challenging golf courses on the island- don't let the views put you off your swing.

Bute is full of history with a castle, museum, cairns, standing stones, old chapels and Mount Stuart House.

Rothesay is a harbour with local fishing boats and yachts.
There are shops for all your needs in Rothesay and many places to eat.
There are many events throughout the year including the Highland Games and cattle show.
Getting around
Cycling along the quiet roads is one of the best ways to see the wildlife and appreciate the views on the island. You can have a well deserved rest at Kingarth hotel for lunch and Ettrick Bay for coffee and cake.

There are many walks around the island too from West Island way to walking along the promenade.
In the summer you can take a trip on the Waverley steamer to Isle of Arran.
Buses link Rothesay with Ettrick Bay beach and Mount Stuart house.

There are lots of reasonably priced taxis too.
