Reviewed 11 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

My family live on the Isle of Bute and I needed to rent a holiday let to visit them. Needed something to suit 3 adults, one of which has walking difficulties and uses a mobility scooter. Needed 3 separate beds, parking for the car & easy access. This was the only suitable one I could find..The flat was larger than...

Hi Barbara, sorry to hear there were some things that didn't suit you. Space is an issue in the kitchen but I am planning some work over the winter to add space in there- and the microwave is a recently requested addition so haven't had time yet to get more suitable jugs etc although there are plenty of items that...

We found the flat to be extremely comfortable with all the necessary items required for a full stay with the exception of a washing machine. There are fittings for a washing machine in the en-suite bathroom so I am assuming that there would normally be a washing machine there otherwise the accommodation was spot on! The views are stunning and...

Management response:

Hi John thanks for the great review. Unfortunately although there is plumbing in the bathroom for a washer I've been advised it would not be legal or safe to fit one on there in the current configuration. Obviously my customer's safety is paramount. It is clear from the description of the flat that there's no washing machine and I hope...

About the neighbourhood
Bute has been popular with holiday makers since Victorian times. The mild climate, stunning scenery, wildlife and wide range of outdoor and indoor activities are some of the main attractions.

There are many interesting places to visit on the Isle of Bute. A visit to Mount Stuart House, named as Britain's best example of Victorian Gothic architecture is an essential. The 300-acre grounds and gardens are a delight all year round with stunning views over the Firth of Clyde. Another must see, especially for children, is Rothesay Castle. The stronghold, whose circular design is unique in Scotland was used by the Stuart Kings.

St Blane's Chapel, named after St Blane, who was born on Bute in the 6th century, lies in a sheltered rocky hollow above Dunagoil on the rugged west coast, near...

FERRY CROSSINGS
The main ferry to Bute sails from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay. The service, operated by Caledonian MacBrayne, runs every 45 minutes. The crossing takes 35 minutes and there is no need to book. Further information and timetables are available at calmac website.

There is an alternative ferry crossing, operated by Calmac, between Rhubodach (at the north end of Bute) and Colintraive on the Cowal peninsula. If you prefer to take the scenic route through Argyll to Colintraive this would be a good choice. This is a very frequent service and takes less than 5 minutes to cross..

Bute is easily accessible by both Glasgow International (approx. 20 miles) and Glasgow Prestwick airports.(approx. 30 mliles). There is a direct rail service from Paisley Gilmour Street (which serves Glasgow Int...
