Cottage
Altquhur Cottage is situated in a beautiful location with stunning views over the Campsie Fells. We are 10 minutes by car to the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond and a 30 minute drive to Glasgow and Stirling.
The cottage has a spacious dining kitchen, a cosy living room with wood burning stove, a double bedroom, bathroom and utility room. A comfortable sofa bed in the living room means we can easily accommodate 4 guests. We welcome children and can provide a cot with bedding and a high chair on request. Please let us know if you plan to bring your pet, we charge £20 per pet per stay and allow a maximum of 2 pets.

Interaction with guests:Â We live in the farmhouse across the courtyard from the cottage, however our entrances are on different sides of the yard so the cottage is very private. We will be there to meet you and show you around the cottage and are available if you need anything during your stay.

Lovely cosy cottage tucked away down a quiet lane, with log burner, which was certainly a hit. Carolyn greeted us and checked all was ok the morning after we arrived. Close to Loch Lomond and Aberfoyle. We took our bikes to have a ride around the gravel trails

Great accommodation & great location
Very quiet & relaxing location but near to everywhere. Accommodation had everything you need & was very comfortable. The owner who was very friendly & helpful was on hand if we needed anything.

Best place along the West Highland Way - Just FANTASTIC!
This was our favourite stay along the West Highland Way. We stayed in the B&B part. I can not say enough positive things - Host was fantastic, friendly helpful and had lots of hints, tips information about the walk. The rooms were cosy, brownies on arrival! (Very much appreciated and so good!)
Hot, clean, big, shower with high quality toiletries.
Our host even lent her own foot massager to one of the group who had sore feet. We ordered pizza's for our evening meal, one of each flavour as we couldn't decide, all were lovely with very thin crisp bases. The following morning's breakfast was typically Scottish, hot and well made. We also ordered the packed lunch option to keep us going on the next stretch along the West Highland Way - A delicious ham salad wrap, fruit, drink, crisps and chocolate. This place is truly wonderful.

An absolute gem!
We've just spent a glorious week here, the cottage is beautiful and very well equipped. The welcome pack was really useful and the basket of goodies plus prosecco was a lovely touch. The bed was comfy which was lucky as we've never been so tired from all the fresh air and walking. It was lovely to not be able to hear traffic as it is really rural. The location is great, we visited lots of places in the area and didn't need to drive longer than half hour. Several places we could walk to. The village is quaint and has everything you need. Also Carolyn made us pizzas which were absolutely yum! Would highly recommend this cottage and we will definitely be going back! Thank you for a lovely stay!

Lovely cottage
A lovely little cottage on a working farm run by a lovely family. Communication was excellent in run up to us arriving, lovely welcome pack waiting with some bubbles. Nice and cosy with a log burner that is brilliant, very modern kitchen.
Cottage is located in a remote area and around a mile or so away from drymen.
Overall would definitely recommended it and we would use again.

Dog friendly cottage- quiet location
Cottage is in a good location for walking and visiting several loch's. West Highland way on the door step. Clean cottage with good facilities and had everything we needed for a very enjoyable stay. Host Carolyn is very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Enclosed private garden- great for the dog !

Perfect cottage - wished we had booked for longer!
The cottage was comfortable and cosy, and had everything we needed. It's well situated for exploring the surrounding area but we just snuggled down and had a lazy weekend. Caroline is a warm and welcoming host. We will definitely be back again soon!

Okay for a couple of days
Communication and instructions on getting there was great, and the log burner was set up ready for our arrival which was welcome on a cold wet day! The cottage soon warmed up and was generally comfortable. The bed was okay, not as firm as I would like and felt quite small (small double?), however the pillows were very lumpy (a bug-bear of mine) presumably from being washed often to keep them clean. The cottage had all we needed for a short stay and there was extra wood available for the log burner for an extra £10 / £5 for a bag of pellets. A good base for exploring Loch Lomond and the surrounding area. Not far from Glasgow for the airport. One thing to be aware of if travelling with little ones, the heating element in the bathroom is a pipe at low level and gets VERY hot. My husband burnt his lower back on it and we had to keep an eye on our little boy around it. The bottle of Prosecco in the fridge was a nice touch, although we left it for the next visitors as my husband doesn't drink. Milk would have been nice instead for a cup of tea on arrival.

Worth it
Nice and cozy! We arrived on a very cold night, Carolyn already had the woodburner going and the cottage was nice and cozy. Drymen was lovely.

The immediate area around the cottage is farmland with lovely views across the Campsie Fells. The cottage is directly on the West Highland Way and half a mile from the John Muir Way. There are stunning views of Loch Lomond just a 2 minute walk from the door.
