You will need to bring along your own dog bedding and covers for the furniture. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or to be left unattended at any time. They must be on a lead in the grounds and the field due to live stock and wild life (hares and deer). A charge of £5 per day per dog applies. We can provide you with fresh eggs, home made breads and baking. We can sometimes offer evening meals. Please contact us should you wish more information before booking. More

On your arrival there will be tea, coffee, milk, butter, jam, freshly baked bread and scones waiting in the flat for you. Closer to your arrival date we will ask you for an approximate arrival time so that we can be here to meet you and show you around the flat and hand you the key. You can arrive any time after 3 p.m. We would appreciate it that if you are delayed or are going to arrive later than 10 p.m. that you keep in touch and let us know your arrival time. We live on the premises and will be available for you to contact us during reasonable hours to ask about the flat or the surrounding area. A first class apartment and beautifully furnished. Could not wish for anything better. Owner is most helpful and welcoming. A huge bonus is the supply of basic items including freshly baked bread and scones with jam and clotted cream. Thoroughly recommend this holiday let.

About the neighbourhood
Wedderburn Castle, Duns Castle, Paxton House and Manderstone House (the last great Edwardian House ever built) are all minutes drive from Wellfield. The main rail-line Station is at Berwick-upon-Tweed and is 16 miles from Duns. The wild Northumberland coast line with its long wide and white sand beaches and sand dunes are a great day out summer and winter. The beautiful market towns of Kelso and Coldstream are within a 25 minute drive. As is Abbotsford House home of Sir Walter Scott plus the Sir Walter Scott Heritage Trail. The new Borders Railway (opened 2015 by Her Majesty the Queen) runs from Tweedbank into Waverley Station and is a great and cheap way to travel into the heart of the Scottish Capital. It has free parking.
Getting around
Duns is accessible on foot. Duns Castle grounds are open land to walk around. You can walk along by the lake, up through the pine woods into the beginning of the Lammermuir Hills, or through the Castle wood up to the site of Old Duns Town and on upwards to Duns Law and the compass. Duns law is the site of two prehistoric sites and the camp ground for the 'Covernanters Army'. To get to the coast and into the country side you will need a car or use the local bus service.
