Harlech, Snowdonia National Park, North Wales, Wales
Although there are cheaper options at the bottom of the steep hill, they require a hard walk up hill or a drive with traffic congestion with only two lanes and difficult parking to reach the shops and the castles and the hikes up the mountains. On clear days, Snowdonia is the most beautiful and serene landscape in the world, but you must plan for rainy days, too! On rainy days (its Wales) you will love seeing the castle, the ocean, the mountains, and the rainbows from the living room, dining room, and two bedrooms with large beds. It is a double wide terraced house with plenty of room. That it is called Sea View is an understatement as it offers more than the other sea views. For half a crown more it is the difference between grandeur and just lodging, like living in a turret of Harlech Castle, but nice and warm and cozy.Sea View is a self... Read more

The house was perfectly sized for the 9 adults in our party. The living room is spacious, dining room table large enough to fit us all, kitchen is well sized and well equipped to cook for us all, and the bedrooms are all well sized the plenty of cupboard space. There are 2 bathrooms, each with bath and shower. It...

Ideal for our party of 10 adults, with 5 bedrooms (we didn't want a place with a sofa bed in the living room). Kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cookware and crockery, and a dishwasher, which was very important when washing up for 10! The house was very cosy -felt like we were staying in someone's house, not just...

About the neighbourhood
Harlech Castle is13th century castle built by Edward I of England to control the Welsh that he had just conquered with the death of Llywelyn the Last. This castle was taken by Owain Glyndwr who proclaimed himself Prince of Wales from 1401-1416. It held out for seven years from 1461 during the War of the Roses giving rise to the song 'Men of Harlech' and again it was the last stronghold to fall to Oliver Cromwell in 1647. UNESCO considers Harlech to be one of 'the finest examples of late 13th century and early 14th century military architecture in Europe', and it is classed as a World Heritage site. Before the castle was built it was from this rock that the Mabinogion hero Bran walked across to Ireland.
Below the castle is the renowned St. David's Golf Course. Above in...
