About the neighbourhood
The barn lies in the picturesque Monnow Valley, within Herefordshire, 4 miles from historic Monmouth with its interesting shops and cafes. There are some excellent family friendly pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area offering fine dining. Activities include Walking (walks from the door), Canoeing on the River Wye, Cycle hire in the Forest of Dean, Horse Riding (in the Black Mountains) and Golf. There are amazing Castles to explore and lots of other attractions including Puzzle Wood (a film location for Star Wars and Merlin), Steam Trains in The Forest of Dean and the exciting Big Pit Mining Museum at Blaenavon.
Getting around
A car is a must although we have had guests from London who came by train to Newport and then taxi to the barn They did actually have friends join them who had a car! The nearest railway station is in Hereford which is about 17 miles away and another one in Newport which is about 23 miles away. Buses can be found in Monmouth.
