Shepherds hut
The Orchard Wagon is nestled in a cider orchard in the Wye Valley. The location is a paradise for nature lovers and walkers. The spacious Orchard Wagon has been hand-crafted with many beautiful features. It sleeps two people. From the bed there is a gorgeous view over the orchard and hills. There is a wood burner so it is a cosy place to stay all year round. The terrace has a seating area and faces the setting sun. There is a well equipped simple kitchen with cooker, sink, cool box, and crockery and utensils. There is a comfortable double bed, and a dining area by the woodburner. The Wagon has mains electricity and has electric lighting and plug sockets. There is no phone signal or wifi so you can completely get-away-from-it-all and unwind in nature. At night you can hear the owls hooting and see incredible night stars as there is very little light pollution. There is a fire pit beside the Wagon for enjoying a camp fire. The Wagon is surrounded by apple trees and in the apple season you can practically reach out of the window and pick a ripe apple! The toilet and hot shower is located approximately 70 metres from the Orchard Wagon, and is shared with other guests. The orchard is a working apple juice and cider orchard, making 'King of the Pippins' juice, which you can enjoy while you are here. The area is a ideal for nature lovers and walkers. There are miles of woodland and riverside walks from the door, with no need to drive. Several nice pubs are in walking distance. We are walking distance to the River Wye for kayaking and wild swimming, 10 minutes drive to the lovely market town of Monmouth and 20 minutes drive from the Forest of Dean. More

Peace and rest

We spent a long weekend d at the hut and lived it, louise couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, the hut was beautiful and clean. Surroundings gorgeous with lovely walks and a couple of nice pubs not too far away. Loved it

About the neighbourhood
We are 15 minutes from from the charming market town of Monmouth, with lovely independent shops and restaurants. There are nice country pubs at 30 mins and 1 hour's walk through the woods. We are surrounded by miles and miles of wonderful walking country. Host Louise is a keen walker and can advise on numerous walks, taking in forests, the River Wye, pubs and historic sites. There are numerous visitor attractions a short drive away, including: canoeing on the River Wye, graded mountain bike tracks, 6 castles, Tintern Abbey, Puzzlewood ancient forest, Go Ape, The Forest of Dean, Dean Forest steam railway, Symonds Yat. At an hour's drive you can access Cardiff and The Brecon Beacon mountains.
Getting around
A car is pretty much essential, although there is an infrequent local bus so you could just about manage on public transport.
