Town: Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland. Just two miles away is the village of Valley, which has a Post Office, chemist, shops and eating places, plus the nearby resort of Trearddur Bay is situated on the western shore of the island and is truly beautiful with a great sweep of low grassy coastline indented with rocky coves and fine Blue Flag sandy beaches. There are shops, pubs and restaurants in Trearddur Bay itself and nearby Holyhead offers a wider range of amenities, including a very good leisure centre, supermarkets, harbour front, a marina, the world’s second longest breakwater and exciting day trips to Dublin on the ferry. Watersports, bathing, sailing, windsurfing and horse riding are the main activities in the summer months, plus golfers will enjoy the excellent Holyhead 18 hole links golf course, and the area is also a great place for nature lovers with renowned birdwatching at the South Stack Lighthouse RSPB Reserve. An excellent location with plenty to see and do!

Booked a 3 night stay over the August Bank holiday weekend and was greatly disappointed with this property.
It’s only a 2 room property, smells of and is damp and in need of properly modernising and damp proofing.
The most serious issue with it is a link passageway from the bedroom to the lounge/diner of the adjacent property separated by two very thin wooden plank doors, so when you’re trying to sleep you can hear every word being said next door or if the occupants are having a good time, forget trying to get to sleep. Had to bang on the door on our final night to get next door to be quiet.
The bedroom windows are boarded up to 3/4 height so the bedroom is deprived of any natural light and because the property is surrounded by mature trees the property is in shaded most of the day. There’s a wall vent to let the wall cavity breathe which is directly opposite your nose and mouth when sleeping on the left side of the bed and stinks of damp.
Did hear some scurrying around in the loft space so heaven knows what’s living up there. Property has a lot of dark wood panelling so is dismal inside.
You can feel the mattress springs on the bed and is uncomfortable, the owners need to take this property off the market as it just doesn’t work.
Do your homework, so many bad reviews about yet it’s still being marketed.
If it wasn’t so close to the coast path and the white eagle pub and restaurant would have packed up and gone home.
Dreadful place!

Do not book this property!! Until they sort it..
We had been Looking forward to our two week stay at the Cabbage Patch, until we settled in: a terrible bed with an elderly mattress: an erratic cooker and oven that did not heat up: an unkempt garden : a gloomy property receiving no sun after midday: and a non - functioning dishwasher- I received an electric shock whilst checking it out- we arranged for an electrician to call, the problem was soon evident- rats had gnawed through the water pipe and the electric cable, and there was evidence of infestation under all the kitchen units.. unbelievable- we left, after 3 days. Sykes Cottages ( Menai Holidays) advised “ that the owner had agreed to a full refund(£1,600) “ Grateful for that , but no apology, no mention of compensation for distress, inconvenience, trauma though electric shock, ( and the £55 we had spent on a mattress topper to attempt to have a decent nights sleep) - in spite of all this, the day after we left, the property is being marketed again on various websites: DO NOT even consider this property until you have cast iron reassurances that all these problems have been totally resolved . In the meantime we shall be attempting to get redress from the agents, working our way through various computer hurdles put in our way. Rhoscolyn is a magical part of Anglesey: we know the area well, and had been looking forward greatly to a well earned break in one of our favourite parts of the world. Cabbage Patch is a very poor example of rentals available: the price is exorbitant for the quality and facilities provided, and it was unfit for habitation. The agentsSykes/Menai Holidays are doing their reputations no favours by hiding behind frustrating computer processes, providing glib responses, and not remembering that the customer is king.

Dismal, unbelievably scruffy and dirty.
Nothing impressed about the Cabbage Patch, no ventilation, tatty carpets, large damp patch by front door, filthy kitchen cupboards and utensils, dirty bedding, skirting boards and bathroom door thick with dust, toilet seat broken, outside furniture covered in bird droppings, garden overgrown, no view of bay when sat in garden, not suitable for anyone with mobility problems, poor access about 100 yards walk together into property, windows filthy. I would not recommend this cottage to anyone. Sykes cottages should be ashamed to have this cottage listed.iu
