Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Lovely stay
My partner and I had a lovely stay at Y Felin cottage for a week in March. The cottage was well-equipped and very comfortable. It also had some lovely features like open beams in the living room and oak flooring throughout. We came to Pembrokeshire to walk some of the coastal path. The cottage was close to many walking spots and a short drive from St Davids.

Freak out week at Y Felin
When we arrived on the 17th September it was just getting dark, our initial impressions when we pulled up were, where do we drive in, it was a bit obscure and uninviting, the entrance was very unkept, the photos on the website are a bit deceptive, but on entering the cottage we thought oh it's not so bad.
We put our bags in the bedrooms and took the rest of the stuff upstairs to start preparing an evening meal, all seemed fine until we noticed cob webs above the kitchen and then dead flies stuck to the beam that could have easily dropped into our food whilst cooking, the more we looked around the worse the cobwebs became apparent, it really put us off and with no hoover in the cottage we couldn't do anything about it.
After dinner we went downstairs to unpack our bags, on entering the bedroom there was an enormous spider on the wall by the bed, I'm terrified of spiders and had to get my boyfriend to get rid of it. We pulled the bed out to check there weren't any more and were horrified at all the cobwebs they were everywhere! We then pulled out the rest of the furniture and it was the same, we then opened the wardrobe to put our clothes away and it was horrendous !! This obviously hasn't been cleaned properly in a long time, again full of cobwebs and spiders, which resulted in us having to keep our clothes in our bags for the duration of our stay. To be honest I was frightened to go to bed and hardly slept. Also, the towels were like sand paper!!!
We proceeded to look around the rest of the cottage and it was much the same. The twin room where my brother who suffers with Parkinsons was sleeping was just as bad. The windowsills were disgusting , one was covered in dust/soil dropping from the top of the unfinished window reveal along with dead woodlice and mites as was most of the others. He also killed massive spiders and numerous giant black beetles which distressed him very much.
The next morning after a restless sleep my boyfriend went upstairs to make some tea and was greeted by 2 big black beetles crawling across the kitchen floor, which he placed in a glass. what sort of a place had we come to!
Shortly after I got up I spotted some people outside by the main house, so I called them over to voice my concerns, I asked if he was Rob and he said no but they were to do with the cottages. I then asked if they had a hoover so I could clean the cottage properly, to which they replied no they didn't as it was broken. He said they'd have to go and get a hoover from his mothers in St Davids. They came back later with their hoovers when we were cooking our lunch and I had to tell them that I didn't want them cleaning whilst we were cooking. They said "well you wanted it cleaned" which I thought was very rude and I didn't like their attitude towards me .
They came back later on whilst we were out for the afternoon and cleaned, it was better but not 100%, They also took the towels away, but didn't replace them, so we had to go and buy some.
Every night we went into the bedroom there were loads of giant woodlice everywhere on the floor in the corners and up the walls especially by the door near the bed, even in the bathroom and I was treading on them whilst having a shower!! There were also massive spiders on the walls.
I realise it's and an old cottage but this was totally unacceptable especially when paying this sort of money. We also live in an old cottage too. All crevasses need to be properly sealed to stop any infestations getting in.
This cottage really needs some serious work doing to it before you should even think about renting it out for holidays and charging all that money.
The flies were also a big problem, we were unable to open any windows or doors because as soon as we did flies came straight and were all over our food. Fly screens would be a good idea.
All the skylights' upstairs were filthy with cobwebs and fly excrement all over them which made me feel sick, this cottage is in real need of a deep clean especially at high level and all through.
I don't feel our stay in this cottage was worth the money we paid, It should have been spotless. I was very traumatised by all the cobwebs, spiders and creepy crawlies as I have a terrible phobia of these.
We certainly left the cottage in a cleaner state then we found it
!!
Once we returned home I tried to contact the owners to voice my concerns about what we had to put up with during the stay and to request some sort of compensation as you don't expect this when your paying good money, but absolutely no response even after several emails, disgusting !! I have even complained to Trip Adviser as this is who we booked it through, also no response!
Putting all this a side it was very well equipped and could be a very nice cosy cottage, it's also well positioned for visiting the local area.

Superb stay
What an amazing cottage in a fabulous location. The situation is perfect- half way between St Davids and Porthgain. We returned yesterday from a great week in the sun, very relaxed and already planning to revisit next year. Thank you to our host for being very welcoming and helpful. The victoria sponge was to die for!

All perfect as always - love our stays at Y Felin
Absolutely love this cottage. Everything spic and span on arrival and it's the perfect cottage for a family and really dog friendly. Rob and Honey always make us so welcome and look after everyone so well. Great for walking, going to the beach, wandering round St David's - perfect location to be away from all the noise and bustle but on the doorstep of everything else. First class stay for sunny Pembrokeshire.

Great stay just outside St. David's
We had a great time at Y Felin in Tretio - spacious, convenient location close to the Coastal Walking Path and the rental was clean and well stocked. The owners are friendly, responsive and attended to any of our requests. Accommodated our wee baby no problem. Certainly would stay again!

Lovely cottage
We really enjoyed our stay near St Davids and at Y Felin.
Perfectly quite place to stay in if you plan to visit Pembrokeshire. It is a 10 minute ride to the centre of St Davids where you can visit the Cathedral or have a fantastic dinner (traditional, fish, Indian, different choices are available) in the evening if you don't prefer to cook yourself. The flat was very well-equipped and clean. Bed was comfy and there was plenty of space. The Cottage is both suitable for couples or families. Parking is next to the cottage and big enough even for bigger cars. Dog-friendly owners who have a stunning dog themselves. Whitesands Beach is close as well just like many other beautiful locations like Fishguard and Broad Haven. We would recommend this place and plan to come again.

A Real Jewel
Hidden away in the Pembrokshire countryside this was a jewel of a cottage. The farm is just 3 miles away from St David's and a short hop from the coast path.
The cottage was spotless, exceptionally well equipped (we could think of nothing more - except a tea cosy perhaps!!) and extremely comfortable. Both bedrooms and large and beautifully presented - we all slept well. The real treat is the kitchen-lounge upstairs which is home from home.
Our hosts were welcoming, helpful and full of information.
The location was superb for three days walking along the coastal path plus visits to St David's. We will be booking again so don't tell anyone about this cottage!

Lovely barn conversion
Comfortable, welcoming, helpful, friendly, relaxing... Y Felin was the perfect base for us. A really lovely barn conversion with everything we needed as a family of 4. A lovely cake on arrival as well! We enjoyed the coastline, St David's and a boat trip round Ramsey Island. Games barn was great too for a bit of table tennis and pool. We would love to come back at some point. Thank you.
