Ty Capel Studio is the first floor of what was originally the caretakers cottage for the adjoining chapel, where we hosts now live. The delightful open plan holiday apartment is part of our home and was first open for the 2018 season. Though small, the apartment provides our guests with all they need for a relaxing holiday. From the private entrance, stairs lead up to the apartment, which features a small kitchenette, bed/sitting room, shower room, and separate WC/washroom.
The south-facing garden has incredible views overlooking the northern hills of the Pumlumon Massif in the Cambrian Mountains. Our guests are also free to explore the rest of the chapel garden, with a few more seating and viewing options. We have off road parking, and secure storage is available for bicycles.

Near to Wales' old capital, Machynlleth, and a short walk from Glyndwr's Way, it's ideally placed for walkers, days out in Snowdonia, trips to the coast, or discovering the Cambrians. Perfect for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.

What a lovely place to stay. The owners were friendly, accommodating and made us feel very welcomed. Alex even helped us with an electrical issue we had on one of our vehicles. The studio is beautifully decorated, comfortable, fresh and extremely clean. Lots of little extras that you don't normally find at a B&B or hotel but they made all the difference. It lacks for nothing for a week’s stay. It has fantastic views from the lovely seating area at the back of the house. It is so quiet and peaceful. We loved it! We'll be back that's for sure

A little piece of heaven
I recently stayed in Alex and Marion's little studio for a weekend and instantly fell in love. The place has a charm about it that seems to wrap around you like a hug.
The accommodation was beautiful and everything was carefully thought of making a short stay here very comfortable.
The small things make a difference and the personal touches were cute. You had views of rolling hills, sheep, mist and it was everything you would hope it to be.
Both Alex and Marion were conscientious hosts with a great knowledge of the local area. Ivy (thier dog) an absolute delight.
I would highly recommend a stay here, especially if peace and quiet is what you're after.

About the neighbourhood
Darowen is a tiny village of some 20 homes and outlying farms, sitting on a short ridge between two hills. It is within a UNESCO recognised area called the Dyfi Biosphere.
All roads leading to the village are up hill! The local community is chiefly made up of local farming families, and English incomers like us who love the gorgeous views. Everyone is friendly, with several homes welcoming holiday guests. While we don't have a pub or shop here anymore, we do like to meet up in each others homes for a good natter!
Getting around
Unless you are a keen long distance walker, to make the most of the Dyfi Valley you'll need your own transport; car, pedal cycle, or motorcycle, all are welcome here.
We are about 10km from the nearest train station in Machynlleth, which has a surprisingly good (though quite slow) service which connects well to Birmingham airport (BHX). The railway also connects to much of the Welsh Cambrian coast along one of the most picturesque railway lines in the country.
Busses do not come to Darowen, the nearest stops are 4km away in Commins Coch. Several Taxi companies are based in the area.
