About the neighbourhood
The Yarra Valley is a beautiful wine growing region surrounded by 7 peaks of the great dividing range. The sweep of surrounding forest and the patchwork of vineyards and grazing in the valley below make for a beautiful rural area with many things to explore. There are art galleries, cellar doors and restaurants as well as natural beauty and lovely long walks in the forest. Healesville sanctuary has been a major attraction for Melbourne for over 80 years and allows visitors to come close to our native animals. The Yarra Valley is also a great area for cycling with many paths and lovely rides past vineyards and challenging rides in the mountains.
Getting around
The Yarra Valley is spread over 40 km from the small township of Yarra Glen in the west to the old timber town of Warburton in the east. Healesville is the largest town and is at the centre of the valley, between Yarra Glen and Warburton. There are over a hundred vineyards with cellar doors and many with restaurants. A car is necessary to see the area or a wine tour can be arranged for either a half day or a full day tour of the vineyards. We are 15 minutes from the shops and cafes in Healesville main street and 10 minutes to Healesville sanctuary and the nearest cellar door. Piaf salon is a day spa set in the forest and is 5 minutes from us.
