Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Peaceful and comfortable cottage on the lake
It's always nice to stay at Butch and Janet's cottage - on Lake Champlain. It's very cozy, and has everything that we need when we arrive. Butch always has a friendly greeting, and is nearby if we need anything. It is on the best places for beautiful lake sunsets, and I even heard some loons this time. Rocky beach - great place for a bonfire. The dock and the deck, and the porch swing, are all perks! You can even ride the bicycles in the garage. I love making a coffee in the kitchen in the morning, and whipping up a batch of pancakes with the Vermont maple syrup. There are Farmer's markets nearby to go to for shopping, and the Hero's Welcome store down the street has delicious coffee and pastries. I like to visit St. Anne's Shrine nearby to enjoy the beautiful and quiet. This year I even took an exercise class at the local church, and went to buy flowers at the local nursery. There are all kinds of music, library, and cultural options nearby if you pick up the local paper. There are also quite a few places to hike, and enjoy a picnic. Nice area, nice people, cozy and comfy spot to relax!

Quiet, Beautiful Sunsets, Good Fishing and Great Hosts
A nice quiet area with a great sunset and good view of Lake Champlain. Enjoyed seeing all the sail boats and other boater enjoying the lake. The men spent their days catching fish while the women “fished” at the local quaint shops and stores in the area. We also took a day trip to the King Arthur Flour store in Norwich. Butch and Janet are the best, Butch helped with fishing tips and Janet with activities in the area. It was our second year to stay at Shore Thing and we are already booked for next year. The cottage is fully stocked and comfortable . Thanks for the details that makes our stay great. Love those pancakes! The Shaffer’s
