The Woods Lodge is a group retreat with guest cottages, bunkhouses and cabins. We can accommodate up to 24 guests in winter, and 50 in summer. We offer catered bookings or rental of our entire facility. Wedding parties, family reunions, corporate retreats and conferences are typical events we host.<BR>Located just 3 hours from Albany, Boston or Montreal, The Woods Lodge is centrally located in the heart of Vermont, just 5 miles off the interstate, but tucked away in the foothills of the Green Mountains.

Fantastic rural retreat
A great place to stay if you want to get away from it all. Quiet, serene, beautiful landscape and wonderful pool, as well as trails and streams. Run by a very nice couple who strike the perfect balance between helpful and friendly, but also respect your privacy. I only have positive things to say about our experience and we are already talking about an encore.

Tucked away
As a family of four that includes two young children it is a challenge to find lodging that is truly family friendly. The Woods at Wihakowi are 100% kid friendly and had our kids telling stories for days about the little adventures they embarked on while on the property. Despite the cabin's rustic interior we didn't do without. The amenities were just enough so that you could create a home away from home but lacked just a little to remind you to go out and enjoy the acreage surrounding you! To my surprise we even had WiFi access and a strong satellite feed to the TV. Our hosts were truly lovely people whom we would welcome into our own home any time. Their children were terrific hosts to our children and helped to bring out the adventurer's in them. Despite being tucked away, The Woods are centrally located to Montpellier and Stowe. And the best part, you don't have to break the bank to stay here. We would love to come back with a group of friends or for a family reunion. It's an ideal location for such a gathering.

Norwich University graduation/residency week
It was great to have our own place for the kids to play during the day while I was doing residency week activities without worrying about them disturbing others. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The only negative really was the smoke detector went off every time we used the stove/oven. I think the main reason for this is the smoke detector is only 6' away from the stove and between the stove and the windows. The exhaust fan did not work over our stove either. Other than those minor inconveniences we were very happy with our stay and plan to return again some time in the future.

Pleasant rural escape from the city
I had the opportunity to stay at Wihakowi Campground for three nights in april of this year. The sign leading to Camp Wihakowi clearly states “Bed and Breakfast – You Make Both” – the owner’s sense of humor is endearing.
The owners did not hover around but were often seen working about the campground. They were very friendly and always asked if there was anything I needed.
I stayed in the “Hemlock” cabin”, which was both comfortable and charming. It was nicely decorated in a rustic manner with comfortable furniture. The fridge was stocked with locally grown eggs, locally baked bread, juice and other items needed to prepare myself a delicious breakfast. The cabinets were stocked with any cooking utensils, dishes, etc. that might be needed.
The cabin had a separate bedroom with a bathroom and shower. Towels and linens were clean and available. The bed was very comfortable and afforded a good night’s sleep every night of my stay.
The cabin had a deck on the back with patio furniture where I could sit outside, enjoy the beautiful view and listen to a mountain stream. Wireless internet was provided and utilized without problem. I was pleasantly surprised that cell phone reception was very good for being in a mountainous area.
The campground has multiple cabins for various uses. There was a troop of Girl Scouts that stayed in a bunkhouse one of the nights I was there, but no noise traveled to my cabin and I was not disturbed in the least.
If you are looking for a pleasant rural escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, Wihakowi Campground is for you!

Relaxing and rustic
We wanted to stay in a rustic cabin in Vermont that was close to covered bridges and scenic mountains, and that's exactly what we found at The Woods. Hemlock was a wonderful place to relax, and the quiet was interrupted only by the sounds of a waterfall and birds.

Quiet and affordable
The hospitality is top notch, we appreciated the extra detail of the welcome basket. We also appreciated the flexibility in booking the stay. It's nice to know that some innkeepers still care about their guests and not so much their guest's wallets.
The quiet, relaxing setting is a welcome, refreshing contrast to the harsh daily grind and frustration of living in a large city.
**On a side note just for the owners:
Big city life has, unfortunately, bred into us paranoia and fear. Not being able to lock the back door was a little unnerving. In my heart I know the chances of anyone breaking into the cabin are slim to none, however it would have put our mind to ease if there was a latch of some sort on the door.

Perfect place to enjoy friends, food, dogs, and trails!
I have stayed at The Woods twice now and will certainly go back for more! It is a wonderful place to get away for a long weekend. We use the cabin as a "base camp" for our adventures in Vermont and beyond. The cabins are always clean, well-appointed, and cozy. Lisa, Jonathan, and the kids are friendly and accepting of my friends and our crazy dogs!

Guys weekend in VT
Stayed here for the weekend with two friends for a guy's weekend away. The cabin was a good size, and the deck along the back was a great place to relax and listen to the nearby waterfall.
Lisa and her husband gave us some recommendations on where to go hiking and buy some local groceries for dinner. The location was good, and the price was right for a weekend getaway with the guys. We'll be back.

Charming property
We stayed in Hemlock, and although I know that the owners are doing renovations on the property I do not think Hemlock's renovation was done prior to our stay. (We have a large dog, so this was good for us.)
The cottage was great; comfortable, quiet, just the right size, no funky smells. It had everything we needed and was close to Northfield, but still "away".
For others thinking of staying here I recommend that you keep in mind that the word "cottage" has rustic connotations. Again, I don't believe Hemlock's renovations were done prior to our stay, so the other cottages might have a less rustic feel.
