Sitting just off the Blue Ridge Parkway you will find Fernwood Cabin which is a new rough hewn 900 square foot log cabin that sits on five acres 10 miles outside Galax, Va. The home is less than 2 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and approximately 9 miles from the Interstate 77 Exit for Fancy Gap. Come to the Mountains to ride along the parkway, drift down the New River by canoe or float. Trout fish at the Crooked Creek Fee Fishing Area or bicycle down the New River Trail or Parkway. Visit the Blue Ridge Music Center and listen to Blue Grass. Drive to Mt. Airy, NC and enjoy Mayberry and the home place of Andy Griffith.

Quiet
Cabin was very quiet and relaxing. Stove & hot water breakers were off & we had to figure out where the breaker box was to turn on. For future renters I would recommend that you check out the cabin upon arrival to make sure there was no damage to anything so you aren't accused of damage to items you did not use.

Great Getaway!
We had a wonderful vacation at Fernwood Cabin! Our hostess did everything possible to make our visit relaxing and memorable. Highly recommend, and hope to return someday!

Wonderful
Fernwood Cabin has always been a favorite place for us to stay but this year was The Best! The addition of Internet Service made it Perfect! We could even make Wifi Phone calls. A Clean, Quiet, secluded spot with all the comfort of Home. Thank You Judy for allowing us to spend time at your Cabin and being so Close to Heaven.

Totally relaxing for us
Cabin is nicely equipped to meet the needs of up to 4 people for a 7 day stay. Plenty of fluffy towels, comfortable beds, and climate control to ensure comfort regardless of the year. One note, shower curtain liner needs to be replaced, lots of mold/mildew on the bottom of it. Otherwise, the cabin is clean and well maintained with up to date appliances in the kitchen. We loved the rocking chairs on the back deck, spent time there in the morning drinking coffee. Lots of flowers to attract butterflies, and a few rabbits.

Beautifully appointed accommodations in the mountians
Picking up our key was the beginning of a great stay. Judy warmly greeted us and provided a loaf of fresh bread to enjoy. There were fresh cut flowers on the kitchen table welcoming us as we entered the cabin. We enjoyed the quite that surrounded us and the view was breath taking. Wish we had been able to enjoy the fire pit and rocking chairs, but time did not allow it. Looking forward to going back in August.

Relaxing Mountain Retreat
We spent a long early spring weekend at this charming cabin. It was private but had easy access to Galax, Hillsville, Mt. Airy and is only 4 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great hospitality - fresh-cut daffodils and fresh bread greeted us upon arrival. We will come back here again. Thank you!

Peaceful Getaway
We really enjoyed the cabin. The location is not far from nearby stores and restaurants, but far enough out that you have plenty of privacy. We had deer in the yard one evening and enjoyed coffee on the back porch every morning listening to the birds and taking in the beautiful scenery. The beds were very comfortable, the cabin was very clean and beautifully decorated. Judy was very easy to work with and we look forward to returning in the future!!

Situated in the mountains of Virginia, this cabin offers the perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of life. Amenities abound, peaceful, private and cozy.....

Love Galax
The cabin was beautiful. It was exactly what we needed.we had a great time in the Galax area. The cabin is very close to the blue ridge parkway, which was our goal. The Rex Theater is a very cool place to go while you are in the area.
Judy was extremely helpful! She had a list of directions printed up for how to get just about anywhere you might want to go. She also printed out a list of everything going on in the area. She was a wealth of knowledge. She even knew which restaurants would be open and which would be closed.
The only small negative with the cabin, we didn't have any cell service but for us we were glad to get away from technology.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your visit. This is a lovely time to visit the mountains. Since the cabin is in such a deeply forested area and because of the topography we are unable to get good cell service and even wifi. But isn't it great to take a break from all that? It was a great visit to the mountains.
The cabin was clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We enjoyed the back porch for nature watching and star gazing. The cabin's location was perfect for all the local points of interest.
