Holiday Rental House
I discovered this wonderful stone cottage in a poor state of repair in early 2000 when on holiday here in Domme. It has been a joy, working with local craftsman, to restore and discover the original shape and form of this village house which has now become a comfortable and contemporary home in this historic medieval village. We installed a small pool into the garden to cool down those hot summer days. Domme is considered to be one of the prettiest vilages in France and after ten years of holidaying here my heart gives a leap every time I return to see the Dordogne valley stretch out below the yellow stone beauty of this ancient hilltop village. Stroll along the esplanade in the evening to watch the sun set on the Dordogne valley below or walk the fortified rampart around the village. Swim and canoe in the Dordogne river, cycle, horseride or take one of the many local walks through wooded countryside. Play tennis on the local village courts. Shop for food in the weekly village market. Domme has a lovely selection of small family run restaurants. There is a well stocked supermarket in the neighbouring village, Cenac (a two minute drive or a 15 minute walk). 15 kilometres away is the well known medieval market town of Sarlat set in the Perigord Noir countryside. There are opportunities aplenty for fine dining in and around Domme: Hotel Esplanande, Hotel Perigord, Le Grand Bleu (Michellin starred), Sarlat to name only three of many.More

About the neighbourhood
Domme is considered to be one of the prettiest vilages in France. This bastide (fortified) village dates back to the 12th century. Stroll along the esplanade in the evening to watch the sun set on the Dordogne valley below or walk the fortified rampart around the village. Swim and canoe in the Dordogne river, cycle, horseride or take one of the many local walks through wooded countryside. Shop for food in the weekly village market. Domme is large enough to have a small selection of speciality shops and restaurants. There is a well stocked supermarket in the neighbouring village, Cenac (a two minute drive or a 20 minute walk). 15 kilometres away is the well known medieval market town of Sarlat set in the Perigord Noir countryside.
How to get there
By Road Domme is located approximately 45 minutes drive from the Souillac junction of the main A20 Toulouse/Paris auto route. The distance from Calais is approximately 525 miles which is normally covered by an eight to ten hour drive with breaks for refreshments and petrol. Toll charges are approximately €25. By Air There are many airports within one or two hours of Domme: Limoges, Bergerac, Bordeaux, Toulouse or Rodez. British Midlands 'FlyBe' and Ryan Air fly into most of these airports at very competitive rates. Full detail and directions can be forwarded to you on booking.
