We have a professional cleaning company that does all of our cleanings and follows the county mandated guidelines. They wipe down all of the surfaces, all of the remotes and they clean the floors. They use Clorox Shower Cleaner on the showers, lysol germ cleaner on surfaces and they wipe down areas that guests touch such as remotes with clorox wipes. Additionally, we perform water tests on the hot tub before and after each stay. Also, if you require flexibility, please reach out to us before you book Lone Bear Cabin features 3 bedrooms with queen beds, 2 full baths; mountain views. There's a futon in the basement which we count as the 4th bedroom. This bed/futon is probably best for a child or young adult. The home is located in a private secluded neighborhood surrounded by the Shenandoah River-South Fork. Comfortable beds, huge deck, magnificent hot tub, well-stocked kitchen, large living area, separate dining area adjacent to the kitchen, stainless appliances, fireplace, gas and charcoal grill, fire pit and hiking trails. ****************************NOTE: This is not a party house or a flat rate rental. Only guests on the contract or cleared through owner are permitted on the property at any time. Please ask before booking if you intend to have extra guests (not on the contract) during the day. We will likely decline all requests for more than 4 extra day guests.******************************************* *****HOT TUB***** We have a 600 gallon Sundance Maxxus Hot Tub which retails for 20K, comfortably fits 8 and is the best consumer hot tub on the market. We empty and refill the hot tub every six to eight weeks. We fill our hot tub with filtered and treated water that is delivered by truck to our house. Additionally, we test, shock, clean and treat the water in the hot tub before each stay. If the hot tub is integral to your stay, we highly recommend an optional $50/visit add on for our spa company to stop by to test, shock, clean and treat the water once or more during your stay. We are subsidizing the cost of the cleaning for you to get the most out of the hot tub. Just let us know how many spa company visits you want when you book We will also provide one free visit from the spa company (upon request) to stop by to test, shock, clean and treat the water for stays of 5 nights or longer. The Sundance Maxxus Hot Tub has a great filtration system that with a couple of tablets will keep the hot tub crystal clear for weeks with occasional use by couples without the shocking, cleaning and treating. However, if you have a group of 4 or more or you are using this multiple times a day during your stay, the hot tub will get dirty without a cleaning every couple of days. We are providing this service below our cost as a convenience for our guests that value the hot tub as part of the stay and will use the hot tub often. Groups of 4 or more staying 3 days or longer that use the hot tub often would benefit most from this service. *****Grill***** We work to have a semi-full tank and a spare propane tank. We also have a charcoal grill available. Please check the tanks when you arrive. We try to keep them both full so you don't have to worry about propane. If they are both empty, there is a gas station that will exchange the tanks down the road. Take a picture of the receipt and we will reimburse you the cost. **********FAQ********** Do we need a 4x4? You only need to take one mile of relatively flat gravel road from the main highway. My 2007 Ford Focus has no problem with these roads. Can we bring our well behaved pet? We don’t even let our friends bring their pets. Also, there are those with allergies that value a pet free home. Can we bring our children? Our home and our property outside the home is not child proof and there is a hot tub outside. Those are our main concerns. You know your child best and can make the decision if an isolated mountain home is right for you and your children Can you empty and refill the hot tub before/during our stay? We don’t feel that this is necessary as we maintain the hot tub enough to keep it clean and sanitary. Additionally, we clean and empty the hot tub every six to eight weeks. However, for $250, we can arrange for the water truck to stop by to empty and fill the hot tub during your stay Do you have an outlet for hybrid cars? We have standard outdoor outlets that we can turn on for an additional $20/night Can we have an early check-in/check-out? Note that early check-out cannot be guaranteed until 48 hours before check-in/check-out. If there are no guests the night before or after we always grant an early check-in/late check-out. Amazing getaway - stunning views, isolated with hot-tub

This is our second time staying at the Lone Bear Cabin and we plan to return next year to enjoy the fall foliage. The house is clean and well maintained, has awesome views of the mountains, is secluded, and the hot tub is nice and clean. Mark is a great owner and hyper-responsive.

Perfect Peaceful Retreat

Not enough good can be said about this place! Firstly, upon arrival the home is spotless. It has a perfect, secluded view of the mountains while still being close to so many activities, like the national park and Luray Caverns. We planned to spend most days hiking but one morning/afternoon was a little rainy. No one was upset about being "trapped in the house" as we made use of the board games and hot tub. I would absolutely recommend this spot to anyone looking for relaxation OR adventure. It is beautiful.

About the neighbourhood

The Shenandoah area has over 50 species of mammals that also call the Shenandoah Valley Home. We have bears, raccoons, deer, rabbits and a variety of birds. Please do not leave food outside or in your car to decrease the chance of extra visitors. We have a Bearicuda (animal proof) trash can outside for trash storage.

Getting around

A car is absolutely necessary in this area. We are 90 minutes from the DC area. Note that the popular ride sharing services do not service this area. There are taxi companies in nearby Luray that will allow you to book rides far in advance and that will serve our cabin. However, we cannot assume responsibility for services booked through these taxi companies.

We are halfway between Luray and Front Royal. All wheel drive is not necessary to access the property. We have an old Ford Focus and we have no issues making it out to the house.
