Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Stay a Thunderpoint Lodge
It was fantastic Lollie and her son son were great.. welcoming, very helpful in all ways, and kind. Beautiful lake and surroundings. Canoes and rowboats on the premises for free use. Quiet. I'd go back in heartbeat.

Great Northern WI escape
My family (10 & 8 year old boys and dog) and I stayed for a week in late June. Lollie and her family were extremely polite, responsive and helpful the entire week. Upon arrival we were able to access the lake which was great for the boys and our dog. The cabin was well, a cabin. No frills but it has a full kitchen, two bedrooms and a bath. Boys appreciated the TV but it didn't get much use. The listing indicted internet but when I asked before we came the host said it was connected in the house and wasn't strong in the cabin. We couldn't connect all week (which was fine, but if I needed to get any work done it would have been challenging- just something to consider with so many working remotely). There was a small window air conditioning unit (it is a cabin afterall) but it was working overtime as it got to the upper 80s. Any warmer a fan or two would have been needed.
The lake was beautiful but on the small side. Lollie had all the toys available from paddle boats, kayaks, cannoes and three docks. There is also a floating raft/pontoon the boys loved and a pontoon to rent. We rented it for a few days which was ok. As mentioned the lake is small and considered "no-wake". If there were a few kayaks and anther pontoon out it gets crowded, but it was great to get out and do some fishing and swimming.
It's clear in the listing it's a shared rental space by the beach. When we arrived there was another family there but they were great. Our dogs got along and so did our kids. Again just something to consider. Our grill, outdoor tables and for pit were all separate so there was no issue for us. I also have to mention the hammock which was awesome looking over the lake.
A few notes about the location. No good biking for kids but my wife and I each got out on our own. Better for road biking but we had our mountain bikes that worked fine. If you are like us and want to get food when you arrive take the extra 5-10 minutes to go to Walmart in Minoqua rather than the LDF. We went to both and the LDF was limited in items and more expensive. We spend a rainy morning in Minoqua which was a nice break to the week. We also went horse riding with mini golf and go karts which the boys loved.
Overall a great Northern WI vacation. Great owners, quiet lake with good fishing and activities in a quaint cabin.
