You can have the quintessential Hawaii experience at this 1-bedroom flat in the Pahoa area! Far from the crowds of resorts and tourism, this tropical paradise features an additional sleeping area and arrangements to sleep 6 comfortably.
With so many resorts and beach clubs on the island, not many people get to have an authentic experience while they vacation in Hawaii. This property provides an alternative to that pre-packaged resort vacation, and is perfect for families, groups of friends or couples that want to experience real Hawaiian culture and live like the locals! The home itself is an impressive 1,000 square feet and made of solid Canadian cedar, giving it a fun tree house feel. Inside of the flat, you’ll love the vaulted, 20 foot ceilings that grace the living area and fully-equipped kitchen. Members of your group can chow down on delicious home-cooked meals at the breakfast bar, or take a couple steps over to the bright and beautifully appointed dining area. The windows that run the length of every wall add to the jungle aesthetic, allowing you to glimpse all kinds of plant and wildlife right outside! Most of these windows are screened in as well, so you can open them and enjoy the cool ocean breeze.
When you want to get off of your feet for a while there is no shortage of seating inside. The separate seating area to the side of the dining room features a built in bench and some tropical throw pillows. If you’re really trying to take a load off, head over to the living room, where you can sink into the pillowy couch and watch your favorite shows and movies on the satellite and Netflix enabled flat screen TV. As the day winds down and everyone is sun-kissed, happy and worn out, there are 3 comfortable beds just waiting for you to collapse into them. The master bedroom comes with a full-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom, with large windows to let in that lush jungle view. Additional sleeping can be found right outside of the master, where a full-sized bed lays beneath more wall-to-wall windows. For additional guests, the couch in the living room pulls out into a cozy hideaway bed. All of the comforts of home can be found here, from wireless internet access and complimentary toiletries to a washer and dryer unit.
If you already get the feeling of Hawaii inside of this cheerful flat, just wait until you head outside. Surrounded by vibrant forests, ornamental gardens, pineapple patches and avocado, mango, guava, and orange trees, the exterior of this property is just as impressive. The home’s deck wraps around ¾ of the house and expands into an entertainment area in the back, complete with a hammock and patio furniture. You can relax out here on the covered lanai grilling up mouth-watering local meats and produce in the bar area, which is outfitted with barstool seating, a charcoal grill, stovetop and refrigerator. It’s up to you whether you wait 45 minutes before swimming, but taking a dip in the above-ground pool is a refreshing necessity. The sparkling water is perfect for a mid-day cool off, and the ledge around the perimeter of the pool is great for keeping your drinks or food close while you soak up the sun. Off to the side of the pool, guests are welcome to help themselves to the small vegetable garden!
If you can tear yourself away from the property, this area of Hawaii is rich with outdoor activities, eco-tourism, sightseeing, ocean views, and much more. Situated on and surrounded by lava flows and volcanoes, the landscape of Pahoa is intriguing and unique, blending bright jungle atmosphere with stretches of hard, black lava rocks. You don’t have to go far to experience lava tubes and live lava field hiking, as well as attractions like Volcano National Park, Lava Tree State Monument, and Manua Kea Summit.
It’s only a 10-minute walk to a local favorite, Uncle Robert’s Awa Club, where members of the Pahoa community enjoy warm evenings at the bar on Wednesdays and a fresh farmer’s market on Saturday mornings. Right next door to Uncle Robert's Awa Club, you'll find the only country store in the area. The store is conveniently owned by the property owner and guests of this delightful vacation rental receive 10% off at the store! On Sunday mornings, you can find more of these local farmer’s markets at the Maku'u Market and Pahoa Village Market. If you’re in the mood for dancing, check out the Thursday night dance at the Garden Temple or the Ecstatic Dance at Kalani on Sunday mornings.
Of course, there is a vast spread of beaches across this part of the island, and you will be close to plenty of these natural wonders. January to March is peak whale-watching season, so be sure to keep your eyes open for these majestic creatures! Additionally, some of the most notable sights are Kahena Black Sand Beach (clothing optional), Kaimu Beach Park, the Kaphoho Tide Pools, the Mermaid Ponds and the Star of Sea Painted Church, just to name a few! If you’re looking for an alternative to a glitzy, prepackaged vacation experience, this Pahoa rental not only provides abundant natural beauty, but a laid-back, local atmosphere that your travel group will love!
